maybe not the most exciting topic for ester;) but pls help me find the best leggings for tiny waisted DD.
So far she preferred the tights but hey ho, there is a change in preferences.
DD is 5.5, 113cm tall, so average, not thin, but have kind of tiny frame with waist at around 48cm after food;)
asda/tesco/primark too big. H&M is smallest of them all, still too big.
which shops should I check?

Zara Kids? My DD has no bum and they seem to fit her well :)

malina76 · 04/04/2015 15:26

I find Zara Kids quite generous around the waist, at least trousers and skirts. Will check their leggings though, thank you:)

I find m&s to be quite small fitting.

Bramshott · 04/04/2015 16:39

Bluezoo from Debenhams are good. However, I still find I have to take the waists in quite often for both of my fairly skinny DDs.

technobabble · 04/04/2015 16:56

I was going to say H&M as they're the slimmest fitting ones I've found so far, but I see you've already tried them.

Footless tights are similar to tights but have the same sort of look as leggings? Or skinny jeans/trousers with an adjustable waist?

Jcee · 04/04/2015 17:04

Have you tried Morrison's? My DD is the same and likes their leggings. I've also managed to get jeans there with soft rib knit elasticated waist, which have been a hit!

malina76 · 04/04/2015 18:50

Thanks for your answers.
I just spent some time looking at the sizing charts on the websites and it looks gloom to be honest.
average waist size for the age 5-6 is 54-56cm and DD is only 48. With hips is a similar story as she is 55 and average is in 60-64cm:( 48 cm puts her out of charts for most clothes or around 1 year old.
Only mini boden looks more promising with the hip size, not so much on the waist and I will try to buy one pair, but they are on expensive side though, even on sales. DD doesn't like trousers, and the only pair she has which fits properly is from mini boden but one pair is ok on the budget, few leggings not so much. Other skinny jeans we tried are baggy on the bum.
Will def check morrisons, bluezoo and M&S, with measure tape in hands:) Thanks a lot for the hints!
H&M leggings when measured are smaller then size on the web, so maybe there is a hope:)
Thanks for the hint for the footless tights, will check them out.

I have this problem with dd. I have to just make cut in the waistband and adjust the elastic myself. It's easy to do and the only way I can get them to stay up with the correct length

jacla40 · 04/04/2015 19:45

I have a tiny framed 6 year old too and found H&M to be the best fit for her. Primark things often come up small too. Sometimes we just buy smaller sizes and she wears them as cropped length.

My dd just cannot wear trousers. She is quite leggy and we can never get the waist/leg length right.

Neeko · 04/04/2015 19:52

Matalan and Gap are good for this.

malina76 · 05/04/2015 16:09

XiCi, i do that with some skirts, but leggings seem to have elastic sown to the fabric, no way of adjustments, i put another, smaller elastic in, but it is not comfortable.
I attached a pic with h&m leggings for 6-7 years which are perfect length for dd legs. I also have smaller ones, for 4-5, but they only differ in length, waist is the same size in both:), only in size 4-5 is slightly lower.

My DD is skinny and long. The footless tights from H&M fit her best.

CanIKondo · 05/04/2015 16:31

Have you tried Sainsbury's? They seem quite long for their width.

hettie · 05/04/2015 16:31

Would love to know how to solve this too. Currently DD (age 5) is in age 3 or 4 trousers, and even then only with the elastic button inner thing... But she loves leggings (plus proper trousers tend to drown her)

adorably2014 · 05/04/2015 21:24

Mini Boden - leggings and footless tights - pretty good quality for these items in past - not bought any this year so might have changed - good fit around waist
Petit Bateau - good fit - usually slightly looser on calves
Vertbaudet - good fit, cheaper, fabric quite thin and not as good quality as above but ok for summer

makesomenoise · 05/04/2015 21:28

I'd recomend GAP

SweetAndFullOfGrace · 05/04/2015 21:35

John Lewis?

Maraki · 05/04/2015 21:59

Same problem here and Gap leggings fit my skinny but tall 7yo DD.

Pumpkinette · 05/04/2015 22:54

I was just going to suggest gap but Maraki bet me to it. Without a doubt the best leggings for small waisted but long legged children.

malina76 · 06/04/2015 14:09

I didn't try Sainsbury's recently, but their trousers were always too generous.

Hettie, same here with trousers. Little one was always wearing trousers 'younger' then her age, it changed as she is getting more leggy. trousers wise: mini boden and gap have the best fit, but the first one is slightly too short, second one too long;)

Adorably, thanks:) As I said before, i'll try with mini boden. I like pettit bateau stuff, but £19 for a pair of leggings, ekhem, will check them out on sales, definitely. Vertbaudet - forgotten about them, will give them a try as well.

Thanks for the hint with gap. DD used to wear a lot of gap but since i bought underwear in size 4-5 and they just fallen off her i kind of assumed that the new range is kind of bigger.

Found out that polarn o'pyret leggings have adjustable elastic. Will check them as well.

Thank you for your advice, I'll let you know how the search ended as I will check all your hints:)
