What to ask for from the USA

DH is going to the US next week for 10 days for work. I shall be home alone with DS trying to potty train him.
Clearly I will need something to cheer me up other than wine after mopping up puddles and likely far worse.

It's been ages since I was last there so don't have a clue anymore. What cosmetics are cheaper there than over here and what is worth putting on a wish list for DH to buy me?

If I get really lucky he might even brave buying me clothes - any suggestions here too?

Thanks in advance

I am in the US at the moment! In Target (big supermarket) the had Maybelline and Covergirl. Loads of different eyebrow groomers in Maybelline. I have been intrigued by Covergirl since watching Americas Next Top Model, but didn't have patient enough family to browse fully. Perhaps look at Sephora website and see if there are any beauty buys that interest you. Supergoop is a sunscreen company that does interesting things. I read about a facial spritz they have that is SPF 50. Sunscreen from supermarkets come in a much wider SPF range than in UK. I have bought some solid sunscreen SPF 70 from neutrogena. Haven't been to anywhere not Disneyfied yet, but going to mall tomorrow!

I found Merrell shoes/boots were much cheaper in the US than here (but that was a few years ago). If you put them on your wishlist remember that US sizing is different to UK.

Most clothing, cosmetics and handbags are a lot cheaper

Is he going past Tiffany's or Michael Kors Wink

I have friends in the US and often have a look at the sale section of the J Crew site you can get some great bargains. I got a white linen shirt and two silk blouses for around £50.

Been to Sephora today, and it was amazing for beauty products. You can buy roller perfumes in many popular scents, I got a Chloe one, but the also do Marc Jacobs, Prada and more for $25. I got some contouring stuff from Lancôme and a gorgeous lipstick too. I wish we had it in the UK.

Ahh I forgot about sephora.....I love that place. Right, going to make a looong list for DH.

Thanks for all the tips!

Jeans - always jeans. If you can research a style you like and can tell him a size, you can despatch him to a department store in confidence. US store staff are always super-helpful and will purr around a man with a British accent buying for his wife.

Converse are loads cheaper.

Hard candy baked eyeshadows from Walmart are amazing.
I bought 1 in oct 2012 and it's still going strong. Lasts all day aswell.

Biolage hair products are half price in the US.
I buy litre bottles of shampoo and conditioner for 24 dollars.
It's quite expensive to buy here in salons.

If it was my DH I would be getting him to bring back converse, saltwater sandals and a big bag of flipz.

I came back from USA on Wednesday. I like Kiehl's cosmetics and buy them there as they are much cheaper.
Clinique is generally cheaper too.

Lancôme ' le duo' is a new contouring/ highlighter stick just out in the US and not available in the UK yet. Comes in 5 colours I believe. It's on my shopping list for when I go to the US this summer!!!

Lovewearingjeans · 06/04/2015 22:25

I went to Sephora and had a contour makeover, and got that Enjoying! I really like it for ease of use, and making me look bronzed.
