I've attached a photo - I'm early 40's and although I've never been an expert at make up I'm finding doing my eyes more and more tricky - how do I get a nice natural look without the powder looking caked? -how can I get a good eyeline flick without it lookjng mutton dressed as lamb or accentuating wrinkles
and while we are at it -what can I do with my brows - I know I'm not meant to pluck from the top but I'm starting to look like Denis Healey!

Thank you so much in advance for any beauty tips :)

You have beautiful eyes. They're a lovely shape and colour.

I think try plucking the stray hairs under your eyebrows - better yet, get them threaded. You can get that done in beauty shops and most superdrugs these days have them. It costs between £2 and £5 depending on where you go. I've seen some people charging £15-20, don't pay that!

I'm not an expert on make up but I can imagine a brown soft eyeliner along your top lid looking nice and quite natural, maybe coupled with a brown mascara rather than a black one.

I use a face powder after moisturising. Either on it's own or with a cream foundation. I think the key is to use the powder sparingly so it doesn't get too cakey.

It might be helpful for you to ask at a beauty counter in a shop and they'll do a makeover and give you tips. Also have a look on YouTube. There's some very talented makeup artists on there.

Thank you so much Booboo that's incredibly kind of you! I love your tips and never knew about threading at Superdrug - I'll pop in there one afternoon when DS2's in nursery!

Ooo yes you do have lovely eyes!
I can imagine you'd look lovely with a silvery grey eyeliner! Ooo or a green or a lilac!
The best ones i find for a little line is a felt tip one. With a liquid liner i start by drawing (with the liner) tiny dots on the lid from the inside of my eye as close to the lash as possible. Then connect them in one smooth motion and you can make the flick as dramatic as you want!
I will always put a base on my eye usually a neutral skin colour shadow, if I'm on a night out ill use a highlighter on the inside of my eye and on the arch just under my eyebrow, blended in with whatever makeup I'm wearing.
I get my eyebrows HD'd the lady threads and waxes them into the best shape for your face. Then puts a powder on them to bring out the invisible hairs to make the shape better! It costs me 25 quid but it stops me go mad over my eyebrows!
Hope that helps or gives you ideas!

You got beautiful eyes :)
I agree re threading, they frame your face and make your eyes pop out.
I use eye cream then some concealer. I recently admired a friend's make up, you know the type, looks bright eyed with minimum caked plastered colour. She told me it's this bobby brown cream eye shadow. It's got the tiniest of sparkle, makes it look dewey as opposed to disco ball.
I also seear by this.
Again, really easy to apply, lasts ages and I use the darker shade on the outer corners (apply with the sponge brush that comes with it) instead of eye liner :)
