how to keep hair out DD's eyes (9 months)

Any tips recommendations on hair ties, clips or headbands that will stay put/are comfy/easy to use?
DD had a full head of hair at birth and it's now down in her eyes. She's very fidgety so I need something easy to use. I'd rather wait til she's a bit older for her first haircut.

I found that the cloth backed clips are best for silky baby hair.

why not cut it? Perhaps while she's asleep?

Buttercup27 · 03/04/2015 11:12

I would cut it. Ds has had to have his cut every 4-5 weeks since he was 12 weeks old as it grows so fast.

The small bow clips from trotters.

I wouldn't cut it either. It's far easier to let it grow out now into side parting. So by the time she's 18months it will be easy to put up or tuck behind ears. A fridge is a nightmare as constantly needs cutting so they don't end up like a dulux dog

  • fringe not fridge!
DarylDixonsDarlin · 03/04/2015 11:24

Agree about the fringe, little girls (and boys!) can look awfully cute with a fringe, but previously I cut my 1yo a fringe and now as a 2yo I am growing it out, as I've seen how annoying it is for her sister noe 6yo, to grow hers out.

You could plait the front, sort of to the side, if its long enough? Or elastic headband, Tesco value ones are 19p for 2 DD wears them for school pe to keep her fringe back as they have to take out clips etc. Clips never seem to stay in well here on the toddler.

I was cutting my dd's hair by the time she was 5 months. Just the fringe as the rest didn't need it.

ThatBloodyWoman · 03/04/2015 11:27

Cut it.

Leave it! If your children are anything like mine, hair in their eyes will not bother them one bit. It will bother random grannies in the street, but not be a problem for them. If it had been a problem for mine i presume they would have kept a hairslide in, which they both categorically refused to do!

Thelovecats · 03/04/2015 14:33

If you are going to cut, be careful where the fringe starts from. You don't want it to start at the crown :D

LadyB49 · 03/04/2015 18:09

Is it long enough to pull on top on top with a pretty bobble... a la Pebbles

LadyB49 · 03/04/2015 18:10

Oops...once on top would do :)

I really regret giving 4yo DD2 a fringe when she was a baby but she has fine, poker straight hair and it was impossible to keep clips in it. We're now growing it out and whist it's in that in between stage, I've been brushing it to the side and using a tiny silicone band (similar to a loom band) to fasten a small ponytail at her temple.
