If you have curly long(ish) hair, I need advice

My DD2 has curly hair. She is 7 so I still have to look after it for her. When she was younger it was easier to look after as it was quite short and didn't seem to grow very quickly.

Now her hair is about half way down when back when the curls are stretched out. It's very curly underneath (ringlets) but the upper layers are more wavy.

Up until now, I have been spraying it every morning, brushing it through and sticking it up in a pony tail or plaiting it. It doesn't look great but at least it's away from her face.

But now she is getting a bit older, she wants to wear it down after school and at the weekends. The problem is is that it looks like a birds nest when it's down so I think I need to start looking after it properly.

So what do I need to do to make it look a bit better? I don't want to spend hours on it or spend a fortune on hair products.

Can anyone advise me?

Google 'Curly Girl method' and do that.

Don't be afraid to ditch the brush, shampoo, sulphates and silicone.

It's reall worth it.

When it's wet comb it through with a fine tooth comb so it is utterly detangled.

Then comb through a healthy amount of John Frieda Frizz Ease mousse -make sure you coat both the top of the hair and the underneath.

Then leave to dry naturally. You will be amazed.

Sometimes you may need to "refine" top strands after it's dried if you didn't mousse them effectively. Take the lock of hair as it falls that is frizzing, wet your fingers and run it down the hair so it is damp and then lightly coat with a squizz of mousse then twirl it round and round until it's tighly wound then let go and leave to dry.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to start today by washing her hair with conditioner. I have a fine tooth comb but no product yet. Thanks for the advice.

We do all of the above plus treat with a lush curly hair mask once a month.
