Dull congested skin :(

I'm currently using la Roche posays effaclar range but my skin looks dull. I don't have spots but my skin especially on my forehead looks rough with tiny little bumps under the skin.
What else can I do to make it look fresher?

Dermalogica do a 'Daily Microfoliant' thing.
(I got it as a freebie and use it when I remember and can be bothered.)
It's sort of powdery washing granules-type thing.
Seems to work quite well - my middle-aged (but still quite greasy) and currently winter-dull skin looks a hell of a lot better when I bother to use it.

FWIW, I reckon rotating different products so that your skin doesn't really get used to any of them is quite a good bet in keeping skin 'fresh'. Someone will probably be along in a moment to say that's bollocks, though.

Exercise, drink water, eat fat, exfoliate, have facials, use facial oil?

avagosling · 02/04/2015 11:03

Ditto the above, diet and lifestyle are crucial for healthy skin. Also facial oils can be extremely helpful, my favourites are camellia, moringa and tamanu

Use THIS or anything with at least 10% AHA in it. Give it two weeks

Whoops posted it too soon - give it two weeks and the bumps will go down for sure. It works by gently removing the top layers of skin. Make sure you wear sunscreen everyday though.

Superdrug are doing an overnight peel thing in their Naturally Radiant range (green packaging). It's nice - and costs about thruppence 'apenny.

Use good sunscreen! I'm very pale so never really sunbathed and now I'm older my skin has really benefitted from it! A tan is really not worth the damage done to your skin over time IMO.

WildBillfemale · 02/04/2015 17:43

aha - I had this and my beautician told me it's because I was exfoliating too much and roughing and drying the outer layer of skin with products which traps gunk. You need to moisturise after exfoliating.
