After watching my skin age before my eyes since moving to Aus I've finally done something about it and my skin is looking the best it has in years.

I'd love to know what others are doing and (roughly) how old you are and what skin type you have. Just because I'm nosy and want to know if I'm missing a trick somewhere.

So, me: Almost 30, very slightly dehydrated combination skin, fine lines, some sun damage.

AM:
Clarins Gel Melt Cleanser (though I've almost finished this and want to swap to the Ren milk cleanser)
Ren Radiance Perfecting Serum
Liz Earle light moisturiser

I need a decent sun block on next but I'm using a CC cream with spf instead.

PM
Eve Lom cleanser (also likely to switch once I've finished the pot for something without mineral oil. Not a fan of Cleanse and Polish though)
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair
Rosehip oil

Over to you...

I'm 43, mixed skin, some normal some prone to dry patches, and acne rosacea. I sometimes use special potions, but my fall back is nivea face wash, in the shower with a flannel followed by nivea thick cream and a good old massage while doing it. The dry patches are clear, the rosacea is under control, but I still suffer redness. I'm told I look my age or younger.

MamaLazarou · 01/04/2015 21:36

I'm 40 and suffered from dry patches and terrible acne for years until I stopped using harsh, drying face washes, scrubs and toners. I now only use oil-based products and have lovely, normal, well-behaved skin with hardly any lines.

Cleanse morning and night with Lush 9 to 5 cleanser and a muslin cloth, followed by L'Occitane shea butter face cream and Lancome Genefique eye cream.

I am 59. I have good skin apart from a few broken veins on my chin. I often get compliments as I haven't any wrinkles.
I use a face wipe every morning and Lidls moisturiser with hyaluronic acid (3.99).
I drink hot water and lemon every day, one lemon to a litre of water.
I have a 1000mg omega 3 oil capsule,60mg hyaluronic acid and a multi vitamin every day. I try to consume some coconut oil every day.
I wear SPF mineral powder every day.
Each evening I use face wipes to remove my makeup and then Nivea lotion to remove any residual dirt and then finish with a hot face cloth. I then slap on more Lidl hyaluronic acid cream. Twice a week I give my face a scrub with a mildly abrasive glove.
I include my neck and chest in my routine.
I gave up smoking in my thirties, never really sunbathed much, drink only occasionally and eat lots of protein. I drink lots of water too.
I don't know if it's what I do now or if it's what I did years ago that keeps my skin fresh looking.

30 - combination/normal skin. Wash with warm water in the morning. Missha bb cream SPF 42 if wearing makeup or nivea blue pot if not. Coconut oil as a remover at night then la roche posay cleanser and effclair duo. I also take cod liver oil capsules and glucosamine sulphate for my dodgy joints but I notice a difference in my skin when taking these.

Haggisfish · 01/04/2015 23:07

I'm 38 and have decent skin. Am told I look a few years younger. I cleanse in the shower every other day and then moisturise, both with kiehls stuff. That's it.

MaryMotherOfCheeses · 01/04/2015 23:16

It is an interesting thread because I wonder why so many people are unhappy with their skin and spend so much time on it. Dryness and spottiness I can appreciate is a problem, but I wonder if those of you who use so many products really need it. What would happen if you didn't? Genuine question, I've been wondering about it lately.

I wash each morning with hand soap and water. I wear foundation each day. Recently I've started slapping on a moisturiser (whatever I can get my hands on, but a light one, for preference) under my foundation, mainly cos it helps it to stick.

I'm 45, I don't think I'm minging Grin

Haggisfish · 01/04/2015 23:27

I wonder the same! I can't believe people spend so much money and time on skin care. A different world!

MrsBungle · 01/04/2015 23:28

I'm 37. I have no wrinkles and no lines that I can see, I do have a small patch on my fore-head that goes brown in the sun.

I just wash my face at night. Little bit of Clinique all about eyes. My eyes definitely seem to get a bit darker underneath when I don't use the Clinique.

Morning: I don't wash it and sometimes moisturise and sometimes don't! At the moment I'm using Aldi la cura moisturiser.

I had acne as a young adult until roaccutane sorted that out. My skin has been really good ever since. My dermatologist told me I would likely not get wrinkles early.

I'm happy with my skin and I have an extremely minimal routine!

mowglik · 01/04/2015 23:54

IME some people are fine despite not really taking care of their skin, my sister wears estee lauder double wear every day and forgets to take it off most days but her skin is gorgeous and always gets comments at beauty counters etc

Me on the other hand, if i slack on using skincare that i know works for me and use wipes and forget to remove makeup etc, my skin looks awful within days, spotty and flaky and greasy at the same time.. A lot of people invest more in their skin because they had problem skin to begin with - if you never had that issue consider yourself lucky! Envy

Somanyvipers · 02/04/2015 05:05

A very minimal routine, clean and moisturise with olay/nivea. Be careful of sun exposure. Too many products make my naturally clear 40 year old skin irritable. I truly believe nutrition is key to healthy skin and am amazed at the amount of time and money people spend on 'products'.

littlejessie · 02/04/2015 05:57

Has anyone tried the Decleor Iris balm? It's honestly like having a facial every night. I was given a sample by my hairdresser and it's lasted ages - I'm so impressed I think I might have to take out a second mortgage to invest in some.

My skin is dry and I've suddenly noticed a shed load of fine lines all over my face. I'm 37 and my skin care routine has been non-existent until now. Hopefully it's not too late to repair it a bit.

littlejessie · 02/04/2015 05:59

Somanyvipers, couldn't agree more! My diet is healthy but I don't drink enough and think that's probably vital too.

Nabootique · 02/04/2015 08:37

What mowglik said. If you can get away with wipes and Nivea blue pot then good for you! I've tried the simple is best approach and my skin was depressing me. I now spend a fortune and although my skin isn't perfect, it is a darn sight better than it was before, so to me it is worth it.

I know someone who washes her face with soap in the shower and that's it, and she looks about 10 years younger than she is. If I did that my face would fall off. Everyone is different.

Floisme · 02/04/2015 10:21

Another one here with a minimal routine. I'm 58, not many wrinkles but very sensitive skin and the more products or ingredients I use, the worse it is:

Morning: Cold water, wheatgerm or coconut oil, Ultrasun Face sun screen.

Evening: almond oil with a hot flannel, more coconut or wheatgerm oil.

It works for me. Even now I'm occasionally tempted by other products but usually regret it although I do trust Dr Organic olive oil cream and Neal's Yard Frankinsence.

avagosling · 02/04/2015 11:11

43, combination skin

Water to wash my face in the morning
Camellia oil if skin on the oily side
Tamanu if going through a dry phase

Oil cleansing method at night with castor and jojoba oil (plus a drop of lavender and geranium essential oils)
Rosehip at night

I've switched completely to an all-natural skin care routine and never going back! This has saved me lots of money and my skin has never looked better
