Pixie cut?

MildredDreadful · 30/03/2015 19:58

I have a mumsy bob at the moment. Shoulder length. Straight fringe to my eyebrows. Blonde highlights on greying brown. I think I've plucked up the courage to lop it all off and have a pixie cut.

I'm 46, not slim (not vast, but not elfin Anne Hathaway type either), heart shaped face. Any top tips or how not to do it, advice?

Go for it! I was a highlighted and bobbed blonde this time last year - went pixie ish and brown and it looked fab Smile

I didn't have a particular look in mind, just told the stylist to take it short!

MildredDreadful · 30/03/2015 20:08

Oh that's encouraging thankyou! Did you keep a fringe or any part longer?

Yes I kept a longish fringe, although recently another hairdresser hacked it off Shock it's taken three months to grow back to the right length.

In fact - just searched for my thread - titled "I've had the chop" 14/6/14 (different username) - there's a photo on it.

MrsPeacockDidIt · 31/03/2015 19:21

I did it 18 months ago and wish I had done it years ago. The good thing about hair is that it will grow back if you really hate it.

skylerwhite1 · 31/03/2015 19:35

Hi ya, I went for the asymmetrical bob (so wanted to look like Frankie from Saturdays) but don't and never will in this lifetime or the next.Sad Delighted with it though - its flipping brill easy to manage, if it gets greasy some dry shampoo gives great texture and volume, it blowdrys quickly 5 mins!!. it involves some maintenance - need a cut ever 5-6 weeks, but still delighted and like MrsPeacock wish I did it yrs ago. If you google pixie cuts for heart shaped faces you will get great inspiration.

Thanks everyone. I had it all chopped yesterday....I love it! Wish I'd done it ages ago.

cocolepew ...it's like you pic but with a few feathery bit at the back to disguise my wonky hairline.

I feel like a new womanGrin

Any chance of a photo, mildred? (even from the back).
I'm plucking up the courage to go for a pixie, and want to see some 'real' women with it!

Cocolepew · 05/04/2015 16:32

I have a wonky hairline at the back too. Its amazing how many people do but you only notice it on short cuts Grin

Glad you're happy with it. Smile

Lovewearingjeans · 05/04/2015 17:21

I went short for the first time in my life two years ago, and haven't looked back! The great thing about a pixie is that you can experiment with colour and different styles so easily. I have petite features, but not photogenic at all! It works really well with my fine hair texture too.
