Calling the bra ladies

DD2 is 2 weeks old now and I need to sort out some more nursing bras. I don't have any decent shops round here so need to order online. I have a 36K Royce Sadie that Bravissimo fitted me in a couple of years ago and have been wearing that and a 36J of the same type. The 36 band is correct fit wise but I find that the cups come quite high up to my armpits. I would also like to go up to a 38 for sleeping in for comfort. What would you suggest I try?

Going up to a 38 might well make it feel worse under your armpit, as the cups will probably be wider and the straps will be further out

In terms of what to buy, most nursing bras aren't wired and therefore won't give huge support. Once you are sure that your size has settled it might be worth considering whether you'd be more comfortable converting some normal bras. It's ok to do this - the "no wires" thing is a bit of a myth and they're basically fine AS LONG AS THEY FIT! The reason they advocate no wires is that so many people wear the wrong size so the wire sits on breast tissue. There is also a polish company called Ewa Michalak who make wired feeding bras. There are a few in the UK, mainly by Anita, but you are sized out of those. Freya also do one, called the Pure, but it only goes to an H in a 36 band.

I have always worn non wired bras so am used to them. I did get fitted into a 34H Fantasie Belle Full Cup last year but that is the only wired bra I've worn. I'm not sure I can tell the difference between a badly fitting bra and the new sensation of properly fitting wired. The Fantasie feels ok when I put it on but digs in by the end of the day so I haven't worn it for months.

For sleeping and when I was sore I had the Bravado sleep bra, and it was perfect. This one:

The ladies at bras4mums are very helpful in finding the right size, I sent them lots of emails!

I suspect you probably need a new fitting to make sure your sizing is correct.

Sad There is nowhere near me that I would trust to fit properly, everywhere uses the M&S way. We need a lovely MNer to open a bra shop round here :o
