dry naturally wavy hair

I've decided I quite like my wavy hair after 10 years of constantly strightening it.

Only thing is when it's wavy it looks quite dry. when strightened it fine.

I use aussie hair shampoo and what ever conditioner is on offer.

I did add a little mousse to it today to help with the wave but it still looked dry.

I can't not blow dry it as it takes hours to dry and is just a frizz ball hen it does dry.

what products will help it looks shiny and healthy

I have fine wavy hair and completely hated Aussie shampoo and conditioner.

Have you tried going SLS free? My hair is much happier now I'm not stripping it whenever I wash it.

Personally my hair loves silicones - any sort of oil or even the original Frizz-Ease but loads of wavy/curly haired people swear by avoiding them.

Never tried the sls free route wouldn't know we're to look Smile

mine is really thick and I regularly have to have it thined out.

I use redken curvaceous conditioner and don't rinse it completely so there's a little conditioner left in. I also use argan oil. And I use very little shampoo as that just dries it out.

Use a bit of leave-in conditioner. Everyone loves boots pink curl creme. Use a diffuser and only half dry it.

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/03/2015 17:44

Vitapointe, rub a little on your hands and run through your hair when it is dry. Cheap, and it works.

spottymoo · 29/03/2015 18:07

I've heard of the pink curl creme I take it I just dry my hair as normal then add a small amount with my fingers?

The vitaponte has good results would you just use this or any other products?

I put some curl creme on my hands - not too much, about a walnut sized lump, rub it over my hands and then run my hands and fingers through my hair. You can use this, and if it still looks/feels dry, maybe run a little vitapointe through the ends. Boots also do a good leave in conditioner, a coconut one, in a spray.

spottymoo · 30/03/2015 20:57

Thank you I managed to get the pink stuff today but no vonteponte but it's small store so ill nip to the larger one at some point

Don't wash the conditioner out, just blot your hair dry, add the conditioner and a blob of serum and then let it try naturally

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 30/03/2015 21:11

I love the Frizz Ease creme, you rub it in and brush it through and voila, lovely smooth glossy curls.

FirstOnRecallDay · 30/03/2015 21:12

Herbal Essense has a new SLS free shampoo that smells lovely! I swear by Boots curl creme, and use a little of their curly hair mousse (and it's usually 3-for-2!

Also, use an old cotton t-short to dry your hair, it's not as harsh as a towel!

HTH Smile

I use A kerastase spray conditioner and a bit of boots curl creme and leave it to dry naturally. If I am going out immediately after my shower, then I just blow dry the roots but leave the rest pinned up. I get lovely soft curls afterwards.

Tigresswoods · 30/03/2015 22:43

I am all over this. Been letting my wavy hair dry naturally for about 7-8 months now. Wash & condition as normal- pat hair a bit to dry, no rubbing as I used to.
Do not brush or comb hair. Put pink stuff through wet hair with fingers. Scrunch a bit. Wrap hair in old long sleeved t-shirt for 5 mins.

LOVE the result!!!

margaritasbythesea · 30/03/2015 22:48

Jumping on so i can remember vitapointe. What is it btw?

yazzy85 · 31/03/2015 00:57

Morrocan Oil and Boots Pink Curl Cream. They don't feel heavy on my hair but still add definition. I use a wide tooth comb through it as well to get the tangles out.

spottymoo · 31/03/2015 06:59

Lots of things to try Grin
unfortunately leaving it try naturally it's an option it'd take hours to dry

Do you use a diffuser to dry it? When I'm going curly I use aveda curl serum stuff and then diffuse to dry. It's a bit frizzy by the end of the day but OK if I keep my hands off it.

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 31/03/2015 07:20

I can't get on with the pink curl creme at all, it makes my hair dull and lanky, with curls like rats tails, I use far less than a walnut size blob too, just dip one finger in the tub. However since going silicone free and sticking to low sulphate shampoos of the last few years it's condition has improved no end. I wrap it in a microfibre towel for 10 mins (no rubbing) then blow dry the fringe and into the roots, where it is fairly straight, but leave the bulk of it to dry naturally so I get a cascade of waves over my shoukders. Using the towel makes a huge difference to the drying time, it takes less than an hour compared to 3 or 4 if I left it to dry completely on its own. Then on subsequent days I brush my fringe and over the top layer with a paddle brush to shine it and just separate any tangles in the curlier longer layers with my fingers.

FeijoaSundae · 31/03/2015 08:50

Can anyone please recommend any silicone-free and and low sulphate products?

No doubt I won't be able to find them down here, but I can but hope!

WhoKnowsWhereTheChocolateGoes · 31/03/2015 09:16

My favourites are Dr Organic from Holland and Barrett (shampoo and conditioner). Never found any styling products my hair gets on with though, they tend to make it all lank and dull.
