Gym wear - help!

I've agreed to go to the gym tomorrow morning with a friend who's slowly building her fitness and confidence back up after a nasty car accident in which her leg was badly injured. I'll mostly be there to give her a hand and keep an eye on her but I think she wants me to do some workouts with her. I could probably use the exercise too tbh Grin

She's a big gym fan. I don't think I've set foot in one since school.

I have some tshirts, and an old pair of tennis trainers, but I've been going through my wardrobe desperately and the only legwear I have which I think is going to be suitable is printed leggings! Robot / terminator printed leggings at that.

I literally have nothing else. Jeans, chinos, suit trousers / skirts or floaty / maxi skirts.

Will I look like a right pillock if I turn up in Terminator leggings, or do I need to go to the only sports shop in town first thing tomorrow (we're meeting at 10) and buy an overpriced pair of sensible black ones?? Help!! (I have text her with aforementioned dilemna but I think she's gone out with her OH for dinner tonight.)

Robot leggings fabulous, naturally, but not sure if too avant garde for the gym.

Get some decent trainers. Leggings sound fine

robot print leggings sound like the very pinnacle of hipster chic to me. YOu could probably sell them on eBay for enough to buy yourself an entire Sweaty Betty costume (once you've worn them tomorrow)

Printed leggings for the gym are extremely on trend, so you will fit the part! Wear with a vest if possible - avoid a baggy t-shirt.

A pair of decent trainers seconded. You can get reasonably priced sportswear at Sports Direct if you have a store close to you. Next, M&S and Tesco also have their own sportswear ranges that are not to expensive.

Thanks everyone! At least I won't look a complete tit. Now all I have to worry about is not falling off the equipment Wink

My trainers are sort of slimline tennis ones. They're OK, but they probably do need replacing.. If I start doing this regularly I will have to have a look for some next time I have a shopping day in the city! There's only one sports shop in my nearest little town and the range is awful and the prices are seriously high.

I don't think any of my baggy vests would work - they're all kind of holiday ones with sequins n' tassels n' shit. I have a couple that might work though :)

Thanks again!

If you get into the gym thing, I can really recommend Gap sports stuff. Their capri's and their vests are great. Wash really well and stay in shape and have a girdling effect too :) I order mine online. I rotate 3 pairs of the capris and they've done a year now of either daily hour long walks or 4 times a week gym sessions.

The gym I go to is a council run one and is totally un-posery. There's everything from proper sportswear to bog standard flowery tee shirts and baggy trousers.
