Looking for a bracelet or bangle, usually buy 2nd hand 9ct gold stuff but all the gold bracelets I've seen are nasty.

Would look at:
European brands - Monica Vinader, Astley Clarke, Cadenzza. Also the outnet.
US brands (cheaper to buy from US sites) - Eddie Borgo, Alexis Bittar, Vita Fede (Look on shopbop)
Also try etsy, but be prepared to have to sift through the junk, use lots of search terms :)

Depends what your style is really... Do you like sparkly or understated?

I'd hold out and wait for something decent to come along 2nd hand to be honest.

workadurka · 28/03/2015 18:50

Definitely more understated... Any good websites for buying 2nd hand jewellery pretty please?

not second hand, but this or this the type of thing you like?

Any hints, even if they are the wrong metal, to get us looking for about the right thing?

I recently bought a couple of stacking rings from Astley Clarke at Liberty which are (unusually for me, as I normally go for silver) gold and enamel. They are really beautiful and just a bit different, maybe worth checking out online. Also, Liberty have a £30 off when you spend £150 offer at the moment, so you can buy more for your budget!

I like the Halcyon gold bracelets. Like this

Daisy knights is nice- small individual designer- quite understated

None of the vintage dealers that I speak with have web pages.

It's a bit of a word of mouth thing, i suppose with it being one off pieces- if the turnaround is fast enough there's no need to out it online.

Speak to your local independent jewellers, that's where I got most of my good local tips, and keep an eye on eBay and bonhams.

Thanks, I like fairly plain but delicate items - I like the patina of old stuff. Will check out some of your suggestions. I bought my wedding ring on eBay so that's a good call.
