Best thing for red face.

Going into town later so any recommendations would be great.
My face is really rosy and pink. I try to cover with foundation but it still is really rosy.
I bought a green concealer stick but that's no good for all over face coverage.
Any idea what I can get?
Budget is low - I tend to buy Rimmel/maybelline/no7 at a push.
Thanks

I buy the lily lolo green blushaway here: for £7.50

but it can make you look very pale!

I have combination skin, oily t-zone, dry forehead with some acne and redness. I have just discovered Stila 3-in-1 primer and I love it! It has green, purple and pink tones to it so reduces redness, brightens and highlights.

swooosh · 27/03/2015 15:01

Sorry it's called One Step Correct

mrswhiskers · 28/03/2015 19:45

I used to have this problem and used a green tinted colour correction cream under normal foundation. It was from boots no7 range but I don't know if they still do it or not.

petitchoupette · 28/03/2015 21:54

Boots still do it! I'm 41 and been using this since i was 16, it is called the no7 colour correction moisturiser and i have never found anything better as the decades have gone by!. It goes on green but becomes invisible, of course. Really kind to skin, you basically don't know it's there.
If you get some, don't slap a ton on, you only need a bit. I use a dab on both cheeks, nose and middle of forehead. I also use it after moisturising (or primer) but before anything else.

petitchoupette · 28/03/2015 21:55

And don't be fooled by all of these new fangled complicated ranges for redness that keep cropping up, I didn't even feel tempted to change - this Boots cream really is the shit.

jalopy · 28/03/2015 22:17

This is a useful video by pixiwoo about colour correction.

Have you tried bb cream.

BallroomWithNoBalls · 28/03/2015 23:09

Wearing a high SPF every day has transformed my face, it used to be permanently red and now it's not at all. If I forget to apply it, even in the winter, if I'm outside quite a bit the redness returns. I tan well and don't think I have particularly sensitive skin so it's by accident I found this, just decided to stop tanning once I reached 30 and the happy side effect was no more tomato face.

IPokeBadgers · 30/03/2015 11:41

BallroomWithNoBalls - what products do you use for SPF coverage? "Ordinary" moisturiser with SPF? BB/CC creams? Normal suncream with makeup on top?

Just curious, I think i might need to do this. The numerous times I have caught too much sun on nose and cheeks has started showing up as red patches and areas of damage now I am into my 30s Sad

BallroomWithNoBalls · 30/03/2015 12:43

I use Boots Soltan Baby SPF50 on my face before my foundation. It's about £2 for a little 50ml tube and is designed to be hypoallergenic and non greasy so it does a great job. I would rather find an all day one as any suncream needs reapplying, but it does the trick. Ultrasun lasts all day I think. I tried La Roche Posay's Anthelios Suncream which is spf50 but I found it clogged my pores and gave me spots, and makeup didn't apply well on top. Try a few and see what suits - Clinique City block spf40 also worth a try. If you're out all day, reapply at lunchtime.

mrswhiskers · 30/03/2015 13:00

I use p20 in factor 30 on my face before applying make up. The only thing is that you have to leave 15 minutes between applying that and putting on make up but it lasts 10 hours.

IPokeBadgers · 30/03/2015 13:55

Sorry if this sounds dim, but does that mean you use those instead of day moisturiser?

Miljimaseyo · 30/03/2015 13:59

Hobby, do you have rosacea?

My skin was pretty dire a few years ago, I tried all kinds of cosmetic products that really didn't make a vast amount of difference and finally went to the docs in desperation. Transpires I have rosacea and he prescribed me something that, again, did little to help. I did a bit of online research, went back, and asked him to prescribe Finacea Gel - it has been amazing, only wish I'd discovered it sooner!

BallroomWithNoBalls · 30/03/2015 14:19

I use SPF cream in addition to my day moisturiser but my skin is very dry and sensitive (I think exacerbated by pregnancy) I use Nivea blue pot, wait a bit, then the baby suncream, wait a bit more, then Bourjois healthy mix serum and cream blush and my skin is almost well hydrated after all that! Where most skins I suspect would be a greasy slick. You really have to experiment with what works for you, especially if you want to wear makeup on top.

IPokeBadgers · 01/04/2015 13:59

Thanks Ballroom - think as you say i will need to experiment. Have a couple of facial suncreams in the house that I will start with as I dont think my current day moisturiser has an SPF in it.

My skin is generally quite well behaved so I am in some ways loathe to risk overloading it with different products, but at the same time am becoming more aware of the existing sun-damage and would like to prevent more from occurring. I also have in the last couple of years experimented with various types of foundations and discovered that i generally look better with a light amount of coverage as opposed to completely barefaced, so will need to see how sunscreen works wrt to make-up as well.

Glo minerals redness relief is amazing for this. I've always found yellow based products are more effect than green ones, and don't leave me looking ill! Smile Just sweep a tiny amount on each morning and job done.

AnitaPooh · 01/04/2015 18:55

Avene do a nice cream which has SPF 20 and a hint of green in it to hide the redness www.avene.co.uk/Antirougeurs-Jour-Cream it also calms the skin down very well if it is red and sensitive.

jacla40 · 01/04/2015 19:03

I find this CC cream very good for toning down red and making skin more even 123

TongueBiter · 01/04/2015 19:12

Nivea BB cream was recommended on here the other day; I bought some - on offer in Boots, £2-3 - and was complimented on my make up by my 15 yo DD Grin

Allie82 · 04/04/2015 11:40

Which cleanser do you use? I found changing my cleanser made a big difference to the redness of my skin. (My favourite now is cetaphil) makeup wise the Bobbi Brown foundation skin stick is really light with great coverage. I apply it with a brush so it's not too heavy x
