Breast Dress for Feeding?

ToonLass · 25/03/2015 20:26

Hi, my brother is getting married in a couple months so looking for a dress to wear. My DD will be 7 months and I'll still be feeding her, looking for a dress in which my boobs will be easily accessible. It won't have to be overly discreet as will be feeding her in a mother and baby room, just staying I won't have to faff about with.

Have had a look at nursing dresses online but the majority are maternity, unflattering or really expensive.

TIA

Some nice ones here www.babeswithbabies.com/Breastfeeding/breastfeedingDresses/

But they are probably pricy for what they are. Would it be easier to wear a skirt and top?

Some nice dresses there - thanks. Normally I wouldn't mind spending that money on a dress for a wedding but I'm only going to get the one use out of it Confused.

I'm not really a skirt wearing person but yea - it would definitely be easier!

Most jersey/stretch fabric wrap dresses work well and will be useful once you've stopped breast feeding too. Or a nice skirt with the type of top you can lift up easily or blouse with a breast feeding vest top underneath.

am guessing it's a summer wedding if in a couple of months? i personally would (and have on many occasions) just gone for a boob tube dress so that DH can unzip me at the back as far as necessary and i popped breast over the top. with a Muslim i didn't even have to leave the room.

another tip would be that if your dd is over 6 months by wedding my dd dropped many feeds after the 6 month stage so you may be required to feed less than you think- just something to think about!

the dress I wore to a friends baby christening recently was boob tune and from monsoon. I didn't pay too much and I would wear again even if not breast feeding.

sorry I thought it said dd was 7 weeks now op. my mistake.

ToonLass · 25/03/2015 20:57

Thanks, never thought bout boob tube style but will have a wee look! Yea DD will be 7 months, although I enjoy feeding her it'll be nice if she has dropped some of her feeds by then - (especially the night ones!!).

I like maxi dresses which are the stretchy fabric, I suppose they would be quite good for easy access.

I would just go for something like this: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Womens-Ladies-Sexy-V-Neck-Bodycon-Cocktail-Party-Evening-Slim-Dresses-Size-8-16-/351117579894?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item51c03d1676

That you can just hoik a boob out of. Not wasting much money even if you only wear it once, but it's very practical for bf.

Arf at "breast dress" (presumably meant "best") and draping a "Muslim" over your shoulder Grin

Anyway, I found a wrap dress good - v easy access to one side in case you don't want to go to the nursing room after all

I have the same issue bf/wedding and just bought this dress - www.phase-eight.com/fcp/product/phase-eight/sale-dresses/jeanie-wrap-dress/202888527 it's perfect as the top is quite drapey so I will be able to feed in it discreetly. It's also in the sale. I also almost bought this which would work very well - www.fatface.com/maxi-dresses/bea-indian-garden-maxi-dress/invt/77901 - and they had lots of other maxi dresses in a similar style.

When I've had to go to weddings and similar naice events with my babies at that sort of age (ie on solids, feeding at reasonably spaced out intervals rather than constantly) I've just worn something I liked, usually completely unBF friendly, and taken along a change of clothes to BF in (then changed back into my glad rags). Often I have ended up sitting in a bedroom (or the car) to feed anyway as by that age mine have all been so bloody nosey that feeding in public is all but impossible. Hopefully at that sort of age you are only actually going to have UK do 2-3 feeds between say 2pm and midnight?

ToonLass · 25/03/2015 23:54

Thanks folks, feel like I've got lots of options now :).

I particularly like the phase 8 dress, not my usual style but looks very flattering.

Have a look at AnnaSaccone blog and her you tube as well. She has a little 11 month old and blogs about some of her breastfeeding dresses and tops which are really lovely.

ToonLass · 26/03/2015 07:04

Thanks, will have a look

It's not my usual style either but it is very flattering and even makes me look like I have a waist!

TRexingInAsda · 26/03/2015 20:33

I laughed at being covered by a Muslim too, hahaha!
