Ok so I apologise that I'm becoming a serial poster/commenter on this board! Blush But I'm having one of those weeks where I feel like I need a fresh new set of make-up products! Instead of me asking specifically about a certain product, I want to know what you use if you like a medium to full coverage. Let me know what products you use and what your skin type is! Thank you! Grin

Argh, the title was clearly meant to say 'make-up routine'!

I have normal/combination skin (oily t-zone, normal everywhere else) and use Estee Lauder Double Wear in Fresco applied with the Real Techniques stippling brush. I use the Collection 200 long lasting concealer. Really happy with both of these products and have re-bought several times. Is that what you are after (just base?) or do you want to know what else is in our routines?

atticusclaw · 25/03/2015 18:43

I am 40, my skin is ok but I do get spots sometimes. In fact I've probably always got one somewhere. My skin is olive toned.

I use a good serum and then a mid range moisturiser. Then if I'm going out I'll use a No 7 primer. Cliinque even better foundation, cargo all in one foundation and concealer as a concealer (its more liquid than other concealers and so blends really well). Full covering of clinique loose powder put on with a brush and brushed off again.

A matt bronzer (powder bourgois chocolate) to shade under cheek bones along sides of nose, under nose and on and temples), pinky blusher - currently a clinique one and then mac shimmery highlighter on cheekbones, along nose and above eyebrows.

Then other stuff but presumably you're just talking about the base layer.

Mrsteddyruxpin · 25/03/2015 18:44

I'm mostly using budget stuff at the minute, I'm attempting to reduce how much I spend on make-up!
Just base is:

L'Oreal Skin Perfection
No7 Protect & Perfect Foundation
MUA Pro-Base conceal powder- has 4 different colours and is great
Essence Blush up from Wilkos- Powder blusher with coral tones
MUA pressed powder to set

I have dry skin and uneven skin tone

RL20 · 25/03/2015 19:59

Thanks all!
Sorry yes it was the base info I was after - didn't make that clear!
There are some products on here that I do want to look into!

Frankietwospots thanks, I'm interested in the Real Techniques brushes. Do you wash your brush? If so, how do you wash it? I've never bought one worth washing, just bought cheap and thrown away after a while! Blush

OP posts:
LoadsaBlusher · 25/03/2015 20:21

Normal daily make up

MUA Primer
Dior Star Foundation
Rimmel concealer under eyes
BD trade Secrets Highlighter
Essence matte powder ( nose/ forehead)
Rimmel Sunshinmer Bronzer
MAC blusher
MUA Undress my skin highlighter

Loads of other eye/ lip products too on a daily basis but the above is my face ' coverage' make up.

frankietwospots · 25/03/2015 20:30

I do wash my brush, but perhaps not as often as I should Blush. When I wash it, I rub a blob of baby shampoo on it and then rinse it under a warm tap. I keep going until the water runs clear and then I lay it down flat to dry on the windowsill. I've got two stippling brushes so that I'm never without one when one is drying!

mayfridaycomequickly · 25/03/2015 20:38

Op - can i join you?

I've just had a quick Google - are Real Techniques available in the UK? If not - any other recommendations for brushes? Atm I only use a powder brush but I always end up with hairs on my face from it!

30andtired · 25/03/2015 21:06

My skin is dry, flaky around the nose. Have redness along T area, dark under eye circles, uneven bumps here and there and large pores on cheeks Blush
I love full coverage and use different products daily.
Coconut oil as moisturiser night before.
Smashbox photo finish primer just on cheeks and around nose.
Becca Shimmering skin Perfector in moonstone all over face.
Mac Colour Correcting Concealor Pallette in Orange over dark circles.
Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation all over applied liberally with fingers, I allow it to sit for a few mins before pushing it into my skin with a damp beauty blender.
Nars Radient Creamy Concealor in a triangle under eyes for highlight few shades lighter than foundation, before blending I apply strokes of Mac Prep and Prime Highlighting pen in Light Boost. Blend all with beauty blender. Then immediately set with translucent powder using same beauty blender.
Same Mac highlighting pen I do a few strokes at centre of forehead, down the nose, cuspids bow, in smile lines above and below mouth, centre of chin and then underneath where you'd apply your contour. Blend all with beauty blender.
Dust Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Dark Golden all over face very lightly using real techniques powder brush.
Mac format blush applied as counter from top of ear down to just under cheek using Nars contouring brush and blend harsh lines upwards. Also contour under jawline, edges of forehead and putter nose lightly.
Mac peaches blush on apples.
Nars albatross top of cheek bones (from outer eye to top of ear).
Run a big powder brush all over to blend everything together.
I add eyebrows (illamasqua brow gel and anastacia brow wiz pencil), mascara (benefit roller lash arm) and Vaseline on lips.

It seems a lot but it only takes me 10-15mins.

Beauty Blender I can't recommend enough but next at the top is as pp suggest the Real Techniques Stippling brush which is available at boots.

mayfridaycomequickly · 25/03/2015 21:13

Ignore me - found them in Boots!

WipsGlitter · 25/03/2015 21:20

I have great skin. Even if I say so myself. No spots ever. I use the following.

Nivea light moisturiser
Boots botanics Bob cream
Cheapo concealer
No7 powder
Mac blush
Benefit or some ancient no7 eyeshadow
Calorie 2000 mascara

I rarely bother to take it off. Just wash it off in the morning .

twirlypoo · 25/03/2015 21:21

I wear this every day, and my skin is crap (dry with spots!)

No 7 radiance beam serum thingy
Estée Lauder double wear (or rimmel anti fatigue foundation)
Benefits erase paste
Bronzer (rimmel usually)
Highlighter (benefit high beam)
Eyeshadow (brand tart so whatever colours I fancy)
Eye liner - as above
Mascara - ysl False lash
Lip liner and gloss (Dior currently but I'm a brand tart here too)

frankietwospots · 25/03/2015 21:48

I get my Real Techniques brushes from Amazon.

Fcukfifa · 25/03/2015 22:00

Mine is
No7 illuminating liquid
Vichy dermablend with a damp beauty blender
Maybelline fit me concealer in a triangle under eyes and blended with beauty blender.
Very light dusting of corn silk powder mainly to set under eye concealer.
Brows filled in with a shadow then set with Rimmel brow gel.
(If going out will contour with dark shade of revlon foundation.
Sleek bronzer under cheekbones, sides of nose, forehead etc.
The sleek blusher, and sleek highligher (compact)

Eyes, whatever I fancy that day. Sometimes use 3d fibre mascara sometimes not depending on how late I am Blush

Clarins fix spray.

samesizetoes · 25/03/2015 22:04

Missha M full cover bb cream
Max Factor cream blush, the pink one
Lush Feeling Younger highlighter skin tint
Elizabeth Arden mascara
Nivea lip salve

I use Real Techniques brushes, use coconut oil as a make-up remover and clense with LaRouche Posay.

gingerfluffball · 26/03/2015 00:23

Okay here goes (warning, long!) my skin is sensitive and oily by default. After a course of roaccutane it was perfect, but pregnancy hormones have recently wreaked havoc and I'm back to hormonal breakouts around my jaw, general redness and marks from healing spots. 6 weeks to go before baby arrives and hormones settle, fingers crossed! Wink

Have recently flipped and bought half of Boots in a mad bid to get my roaccutane skin back. Top products:

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo [+] - used morning and night all over face after cleansing with a hot flannel to get every scrap of makeup off. Soothes and acts as a moisturiser too. Then Clean & Clear Advantage Fast Clearing Spot Gel over any existing or new spots. This new routine has been working wonders over just the last week, highly recommend.

Then operation make-up:

  • Primer: Elf, cheap and cheerful, v good
  • Foundation: either Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24hr, Revlon Colorstay or Rimmel Stay Matte mousse depending on mood. The Rimmel has less staying power but just as good coverage as the Revlon. (I'm usually a spendy foundation snob but have been impressed with the Rimmel.)
  • Concealer: Lancome Effacernes, used for years, brilliant stuff.
  • Powder: Maxfactor FaceFinity, actually a powder foundation but adds a tiny bit more coverage than loose powder and comes in a lovely compact for touch-ups through the day.
RL20 · 26/03/2015 09:26

Thanks all! I went to attempt to get some foundation samples yesterday. I only came away with a Clarins one which I'm going to try today. The makeup counters are so close together and I felt awkward going from counter to counter so I just left! Confused

I did try the Vichy Dermablend Foundation on my hand and the colour looked as though it blended really well. I didn't want to try it on my face as 1) there was no mirrors and 2) it wasn't on an actual counter with a rep to help.
Anyone have any experiences with this one? I'm just tempted as it's £16 but have heard it can be quite flaky and clings to dry patches.

Gingerfluffball what do you make of the Revlon Colorstay?

Mayfridaycomequickly - yes you can get them in Boots Smile

OP posts:
gingerfluffball · 26/03/2015 12:49

I like the Colorstay, am using it as my default foundation at the moment. It's good coverage but still nice and glowy if you know what I mean. Plus it's really buildable for extra areas that need it. I am a bit of a fan. Smile
