was going to start a thread similar to one below after reading the "makeover" thread, but someone beat me to it so can I be a reserve? or does anyone fancy a challenge?

I'm 32, currently size 12 but aiming to be back size 10 by Christmas, am 5 ft 2, have long dark hair, and really want to do something about my look. I spend most of my days in jeans/tops, and do always wear comfortable shoes but those are necessary as I walk everywhere. Would ideally like new wardrobe for Christmas to go with the slimmer me, and want to be just better dressed I guess. One other thing is that I don't wear makeup, not any, not ever. Part of the reason is that I can't see to apply it so would be afraid it would look crap if I did it wrong, but the other is because my mother has always told me not to wear it as it "accentuates the bits people don't want to see" (meaning my eyes).

so, anyone up for a challenge? and this one needs descriptions as well as I can't look at pictures and say "love that"

I don't know about the rest Wannabe but with make up I would stick with something subtle and simple to apply. I have this fab pearly cream stuff from Boots that you just dab on a tiny drop and then rub in all over your face, and it gives you a lovely glowy sheen. It is called Time Delay Repair Radiance Balm.

I would also just get a clear or slightly tinted lip gloss which is also dead easy to apply and looks pretty.

I am not sure from your post whether you wanted eye make up or not - what on earth did your mother mean? That you should not draw attention to your eyes because of your blindness, did she mean? If you did want to try eye make up I agree it would be tricky without being able to check it. I know if I applied eye make up in the dark it would look pretty scary, and I am used to putting eye make up on every day. You could maybe experiment with a light cream eyeshadow that you could just smooth on with your fingers, and get a friend to tell you how it looks, but other than that the potential for getting it wrong is quite high I would think.

How about getting your eyebrows shaped and perhaps dyed if they are pale, that can make a huge difference to your face, and get your eyelashes dyed at the same time if they are not naturally dark?

I have a friend who is registered blind who wears eye make up. She was taught by a beautician how to apply it by touch. She wears mascara and everything.

There are odd days when she might have a blob of mascara on her cheek, but she knows one of her good friends will just whisk it away for her as soon as they see it

She looks fab and smart all the time.

Yes possibly I am underestimating your ability to do fiddly jobs by sense of touch alone wannabe. I know I couldn't do it.
