Just wondered if anyone had used Bare Minerals with this and if it irritated their skin or gave good coverage? I'm struggling to find a foundation that looks natural and not the cakes or doesn't cover te redness.

I love Bare Minerals. I don't have rosacea, but did go through a period of 'problem' skin about a year ago. Discovered Bare Minerals then. It's very gentle ime.

Thank You just wanted other opinions before I spent £££s.

I tried it for pigmented skin & it's made a huge difference. Also look for other mineral makeup - I now use another make which doesn't contain bismuth (can be irritating). Well worth the expenditure IMO.

I used it when my face had a lot of redness (but not bumpy) particuarly on my cheeks, and it did give good coverage. I did find though that it dried my skin out after using it for about 6 months and I had to stop.

Re: the rosacea - is your skin just red or do you have bumpy skin/ veins? If it's just redness then I have a suggestion. I got rid of my face redness by washing my face twice a day with hibiscrub. You can buy it in boots. I had red skin for almost 6 years and cleared it in about 3 weeks using that stuff. You need to dilute it and be very, very careful to keep it out of your nose, eyes and ears which is a bit of a faff but it's worth it for the results.

rockybalboa · 25/03/2015 09:23

I don't have rosacea but loved the coverage Bare Minerals gave, never seen anything like it. Unfortunately my skin hated it and after two weeks I was covered in these massive bumpy spots, they were hideous. Common problem with it apparently. I switched to Lily Lolo which is good although not as long lasting even using the same primer.

loismustdieatyahoodotcom · 25/03/2015 10:50

Just redness and a few small patches of pigmentation from acne scaring. It looks like I'm sunburnt over my face and nose. What other mineral products are there, am getting to the point where I'm phobic about trying new products because of the reactions to it. Confused

When I actually bother with makeup(!) I use Bare Minerals. It's great on coverage. I use their primer too which gives such a smooth floorless look. One thing I use that isn't Bare Minerals is a green concealer. It's the best for neutralising any red areas.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 25/03/2015 10:59

Sheer cover is another mineral brand that looks good although I have no experience with it. It's another one that's more expensive.

If you Google mineral makeup, you'll find loads of brands are doing it now, some for a lot less £ if you're worried about cost.

StayGoldPonyBoy · 25/03/2015 11:10

I love it, I use the matte one because it doesn't contain bismuth which can irritate. It's what makes the original one 'glowy'

loismustdieatyahoodotcom · 25/03/2015 11:30

I don't mind paying £££s if it works but I must have wasted a lot on foundations that don't work or make my skin worse. I think I'm going to try the starter pack and then look at dermablend if it doesn't work.

Jut thought i would update, so I've brought it and it has given me good coverage but not full coverage at the moment as I'm having a big flare up so my cheeks are pink as opposed to red. It seems to be not irritating at the moment so it's all good. The consultant (who also has rosacea) also was very good, he advised jut to use just what's in the starter kit and hold off on concealer etc until my skin has healed.

Glad it's working for you - just wondered what brush you were using? I find that a more tightly packed synthetic brush gives much better coverage than the natural ones, which is I think what comes with the starter kit.

For what it's worth, my skin is HIDEOUS at the moment with a winning combination of red and bumpy rosacea and cystic acne, and Bare Minerals is the only thing which gives me enough confidence to leave the house...

EEvans · 04/04/2015 09:43

Go and ask at either Debenhams/House of F/ Boots and they will try it on you. Then you can wear it for a day and see how you feel. I love Bareminerals and have had terrible acne ridden skin all my life. It's much lighter than liquid foundation. If you do go for it, but one of the started kits to begin with, they work out a lot less expensive as you get the foundation, concealed, power and brushes all in one, usually either a primer or something as well (they've changed them over the years a bit). Also, I buy from feel unique as it is always cheaper on there than in store.

I must have tried every foundation going but eventually stuck with BMins. I figured although not the cheapest option anything that makes me less miserable about my face is worth it!
Defo go and try it in store. Pick a quiet week day morning if you can, otherwise ring up and book a trial. I've found House of F to be a bit more helpful than Debs but that might just be my local stores staff! Lol.

Good luck

Just read your new post! Glad you are having success with it! xx

loismustdieatyahoodotcom · 04/04/2015 10:20

I tried the brush in the
Kit but it's shedding like mad so I brought a kabuki and flat top brush on Amazon for a few pounds each ad they work great

I went to debs and she was really helpfully spent half an hour just showing the technique and the colour matching me. She also explained how to treat it and that too many new products would irritate me. I understand the Hideous skin thing I have rosacea, dry skin and pigmentation as well as spots Confused

Mild rosacea / perioral/ adult acne (all in remission) here, minerals work well for covering up slightly uneven skintone but I have resorted to full coverage foundations when my skin was worse. Revlon Colorstay and Dermablend type makeup work better with bumpy skin ime. With minerals, my skin seems to 'breathe' better though.

EEvans · 05/04/2015 19:42

Great to hear you got on so well Lois. Good luck with it. x

loismustdieatyahoodotcom · 07/04/2015 10:55

Just to let everyone know I've also changed my skin care to lushs Angels on bare skin and the rosacea is appearing less angry after using than my previous skin care so maybe minimal synthetics are the way to go for me Grin

Sheer cover is fab too, the concealer lasts for ages and covers my thread veins better than anything else I've tried. Be careful when ordering though as they take money out of your account every 3 months and don't make it clear they will do that!!

zippyswife · 07/04/2015 21:21

I used bare minerals (and avene skincare) on my rosacea prone skin. Bare minerals didn't itritate it a but (I was surprised as I thought the brush alone would irritate my super sensitive skin). After a couple of years I have moved into ysl touch éclat foundation which seems to work well on me.
