Medium - Full Coverage Foundations?!

I still haven't got a Holy Grail foundation, just one that I stick with using because it sort of does it's job and isn't a bad price - Mac Studio Fix Fluid. I'm growing bored of it now though and don't find that it sits as well on my skin as it used to!
I like a medium - full coverage. I have stubborn redness but I suppose I could use a medium coverage foundation with a good concealer just for the more red parts.
I have tried so many foundations,

  • Bobbi Brown Longwear (broke my skin out).
  • Mac Studio Sculpt - didn't like the smell or texture - it was too 'gel' like.
  • Dior Star - too watery consistency.
  • Clinique Full Coverage something or other - compact. Was good but I prefer a liquid foundation.
  • MAC Full Coverage foundation compact - way too hard for me to blend in!
  • Estée Lauder Double Wear - too chalky for my skin and wouldn't blend very well.
  • Clinique something in a tube, can't remember the name! The colour was too pink, though.

That's all I can think of at the moment, but I'm sure there are more!

Help me!
Thanks

Have you tried Bare Minerals?

frankietwospots · 24/03/2015 20:49

The Clarins Everlasting foundation is heavy coverage but I struggled to get a good colour match. They are generally good and giving samples if you wanted to try it? Also, how are you applying your foundation? I apply Double Wear with the Real Techniques stippling brush and it's bloody magic.

Lancome Teint Idole is good coverage and has good staying power. I used it for years before recently switching to Revlon colorstay which to be honest is just as good and isn't as chalky.

Lovewearingjeans I actually get asked that a lot of the time, due to me having sensitive skin. I haven't, and can't get used to the idea of wearing a powder instead of liquid! Or do they do a liquid foundation?

Frankietwospots I'll get a sample of that one I think! Thanks. I apply with a brush but have been recently looking at other ways to apply! I'm interested in the Double Wear Light and might get a sample of that too.

Gingerfluffball thanks I don't think I've tried any of Lancome's products before. I've seen people say that the Revlon Colour Stay is a dupe for MAC Studio Fix Fluid. Do they have a wide range of colours?

Illamasqua skin base, I love it Smile

gingerfluffball · 25/03/2015 09:40

I've been a big fan of Lancome for years, their concealers are great Smile the counter staff are usually helpful, so you could always get colour matched and take a little sample bottle home to try.

Re: Revlon Colorstay, they have lots of colours and actually match better to my pale skin than Lancome. For a bit of extra coverage (dealing with pregnancy hormonal spots atm) I'm using the Revlon with the Maxfactor FaceFinity compact on top. It's like using a finishing powder but it's a stand alone foundation in itself so you get a really nice coverage. Despite all the product, these two together look more natural than just the Lancome!

Let us know how you get on Smile

I've recently gone back to using Laura Geller Balance n Brighten, it's a powder (ish) but I'm really liking it. It's gives good coverage when you build it up yet feels like your not wearing anything.
My face used to be dehydrated and flaky & the foundation looked awful, but I'm sorting out my skin & now the foundation is looking really good. I've never really got on with liquids, I love the ease of application with the BnB

Thanks germgirl - is it available on the high street?

Gingerfluffball thanks! I know what you mean about pregnancy skin- I'm 36 weeks, although I've never had great skin so its nothing new! Hopefully off to get some samples later so will let you know what I pick up

I like Dior Star- it's not that watery and if you apply two coats it seems to have good coverage.

A GREAT foundation is Clinique RepairWear OLD version- they did away with the 2 palest shades so I can't use it any more but if they have the old version in stock somewhere I'd really recommend it. Some people rated it as 'thick' but I had masses of compliments when wearing it- applied a small amount and blended quickly. Lasted all day, good coverage and non oily. it's not on their website any more and think they are discontinuing though some stores have some.

Germgirl · 25/03/2015 12:16

RL I'm not sure, I buy it from Qvc. The good thing about that is you can return it within 28 days if you don't like it. You lose the postage costs but that's all.

yazzy85 · 25/03/2015 12:18

Double Wear Light is very good, I fin. it similar to the Studio Fix but more natural looking. I didn't get on with the original either. Dior Nude is also good but less coverage in comparison.
