Am loving this swimsuit but am a size 16 with short hair and a lot of tummage going on - what do you think?

Size 16 is not big! I LOVE that swimsuit, and others like it on the site. I think the skirt and the pleating is specifically designed for coverage, and the fact that it's low in front detracts towards parts of your body (ahem) which you may feel more comfortable about being on display. Not sure why the length of your hair would matter, either!

I'm sure they come with a hygiene strip, in any case, so why not buy it and try it in the comfort of your own home? If it's not as flattering as you'd hoped just send it back.

Also, was listening to a debate about this on the radio just yesterday and a shocking percentage of women no longer swim because of fears of being laughed/stared at in a costume. The unanimous verdict was that NO ONE CARES and even less are looking at you. So be kind to yourself and go for it.

Thanks wagonwheel, your comment about being stared at is spot on. I want to take my 5yo for swim lessons but it'll be my first time in a pool in 10 years - self conscious doesn't even begin to describe it!

I love that swimsuit. I think you should go for it. A family member's recently gone from a size 18-20 down to a 14-16 and she's always looked much much better in a swimsuit, than me so I'm a believer than dress size isn't everything.

hauntedhenry · 24/03/2015 20:39

I love it!

MabelBee · 24/03/2015 20:51

That's the one I've been eyeing! It's gorgeous. I wore a similar style last summer when I was a 16/18 and felt really confident. The skirted bit at the front is super flattering.

I had this one

I like it at the front but don't like how the tankini style stops at the front and is just swimsuit at the back. I have a similar one from M&S but the overlay bit goes all the way round so looks like a tankini.

SoMuchForSubtlety · 25/03/2015 08:21

I think it's a great swimsuit, it looks very flattering.

If it helps, whenever I have an "oh god I'm practically naked think of the wobbles on display" moment when I'm swimming I firmly tell myself that my body made my DD and I refuse to disrespect it by expecting it to be merely decorative.

MorrisZapp · 25/03/2015 08:30

Gorgeous suit but given that it's for the large of bust, why the halter neck? I know it's in keeping style wise but I need actual straps.

misskatamari · 25/03/2015 09:16

I love For Luna swimsuits! I'm a size 16 with massive boobs and I have the leopard print and dark blue polka dot one and they are so flattering. I find the halter neck is fine for big boobs as you can adjust it how you like. I happily took my dd swimming wearing mine a few months post birth as they are great at hiding your tummy.

McFox · 25/03/2015 09:20

I'm the same size as you, love it and would buy it Smile

missmartha · 25/03/2015 10:18

Love the swimsuit, go for it OP, I bet you'll look great in it.

Kittykatmacbill · 25/03/2015 11:17

Oh I totally love that, I wish I had seen it before I bought this fcheaper (and not quarter as nice) one from m&s.

I do kinda see what you mean about your hair you would kinda want to be properly coiffed, but I think short hair would be better than my swimming messy bun!
