Can you help with recommendations for German skincare?

Going on a short trip to Berlin googling has lead me to believe that German natural and organic skincare is a good buy.

Dr Hauschka seems esp good ie Rose Day Cream €19 it's £29.50 in Uk.
Weleda also a German brand.
Are there any other brands I should check out your recommendations would be gratefully received

No idea but placemarking!

Lavera is good, especially intensive liposome cream and mint pore refiner.

Rose day cream is really thick - very heavy and oily, I find.

I tried the Weleda skin food and a nappy one (maybe white mallow?) as moisturiser after reading about them here and didn't like those either I'm afraid. Think they're only about £10 each here though.

weleda skin food 'hautcreme' is brilliant
as is the almond 'mandel' skin care rage. smells like marzipan. their rose products smell very strong!

also the balea (dm drugstore own brand) products are very good, esp the cleansers.

Weleda has a big factory in Derbyshire and I've always noticed it's cheaper in the uk than in Germany. Excellent stuff though, I love the Iris face cream.

German Nivea is apparently a different entity from the UK version - if you look on Make-Up Alley, there's loads of information about it.

If anyone wants to try the Weleda ones I mentioned above, let me know and I'm happy to post them out; there's not much taken from them as they didn't suit me really Smile.

Someone mentioned the DM drugstore own brand Balea. Balea isn't their natural skincare brand however; it is Alverde. The Alverde products are as good as Weleda in my opinion and are way cheaper - about 3 Euros for a moisturiser. Face wash and night and day cream are great.

My friend swears by Dr Hauschka and you can get a small tin of samples of their products which is a good way to try. I find them too claggy though and they do nowt for my chops.

firstmum45 · 24/03/2015 17:24

Thanks Woolshortage have found info on this brand my German is crapnot very good but enough to see that this brand is worth checking out. Knowing my luck will probably end up with pile cream but I hear this is good for eyebags! Grin

Dr Haushka eye balm in the pot is fab and Dr H is always cheaper in Germany. I used to like the quince day cream too, lighter than rose cream. The only other thing I'd be hunting down are Lindt kirsch batons but they're not very S&B.

woolshortage · 24/03/2015 21:43

I think you're in luck - alverde don't do pile cream!

If you are looking for Dr Hauschka you will find it in healthfood shops (called Reformhaus). A big chain of these is Vitalia. You won't find Hauschka in normal drugstores such as DM, but you will find Weleda in both.
