Rosacea, just the worst ever - please help

I've had rosacea for around 6 years. It's never clear and sometimes very angry with very sore, red lumps. I am bf my baby, so anti biotics aren't an option. I've tried researching it and I don't have a clue what my triggers are. I don't drink alcohol, rarely eat spicy food, stay out of sun. I have high anxiety and crippling self-consciousness Blush Some days I can't even bear to mix with anyone because it is just hideous. It's also very painful. Please, can anyone advise me of anything I can try? I am so grateful for any tips.

There is a topical regime for treating demodex that involves washing your face with Selsun antidandruff shampoo, and using Lyclear cream. Works well, unless the buggers have developed resistance to Lyclear. And if you've oily skin make sure not to use heavy moisturisers, demodex thrives under heavy products. So make sure heavy/oily cleansers are fully washed away. It's a lovely thought, ain't it? All thes bugs mating on your face. And doing all their other, erm, activities of daily living

I would second the derm opinion. You could spend a fortune trying products. A couple of derm appointments might do it.

Red wine always causes my face to flush. As does vinegar. I also get itchy arms with both. I thought it was an allergy rather than rosacea. (Something to do with the enzymes in vinegar - they use vinegar to make wine) I think the people with rosacea that say it makes it worse may also have an allergy rather than it causing the roseca.

Thanks for all this info. I have a permanently red nose, my 3 year old told me it looked like Rudolphs at Christmas! My DH came home from work today and asked if I had been crying? I didn't realise it could be a condition that was treatable. I will try some of these suggestions.

Hi goofy.

I use avene products. There's a cleanser called 'extremely gentle cleanser' so you just use a cotton pad to take it off. No water. It really soothes. I find avene to be the only thing my skin can tolerate. I can't recommend it enough. If you ca.mn get to boots get some samples.

I know at the minute you can't use antibiotics, but when you can rosex was prescribed to me and quickly cleared it up.

I think my main triggers were shift work and air conditioning/heating. My skin can still immediately flare up if I'm in a car with heating/air con.

Good luck with this. Mine was really bad. For about 5-6 years. hoping yours improves soon x

I post this on every rosacea thread I see, so apologies if you've seen this before, but my rosacea disappeared when I realised that vitamin b6 was a trigger. I can't remember where I read it, online somewhere, I gave up the multivitamin I'd been taking daily for years, and the rosacea disappeared within days. I've tried twice, since, to take vit b6 supplements, as a sort of test, and both times it's comeback with a vengeance. So now I make sure I get my vitamins from my diet instead of supplements, and am rosacea free. Apart from last week, when I had some ready brek, not realising it was fortified with b6, and oops there it was again. So frustrating, painful, embarrassing. I wish you luck OP.

Interesting information on this thread...so hope you don’t mind me continuing it

After having two decades of lovely skin( I was 40 before I finally got rid of teenage spots)
Since October I’ve had little red spots under my skin..they’ve covered with foundation so I haven’t been too bothered about them
Then I found out about demodex
I’m seeing my go tomorrow so I’ll ask him what he thinks is causing it
I don’t know, if it’s not one thing...it’s another

I’m on tea tree at the moment
Did anyone find that helped?
