Alternative to PJs for lounging/working from home

leccybill · 22/03/2015 12:34

I've got into a bad habit of getting home from anywhere and changing into my PJ bottoms. What other kinds of trousers can I wear at home which are not scruffy PJs/joggers?
I'm looking for loungewear really, arent I. But not scruffy, baggy, dinner-stained awfulness like I currently sport.

Hareem Jersey trousers from next are sooo comfy. I have a grey and a black pair.

Costacoffeeplease · 22/03/2015 15:21

Yoga pants? I've got several pairs from when I was recovering from a hysterectomy and they're so comfy I still wear them

I do that in the evening when I get in. And on days am not going out

nowitsenough · 22/03/2015 15:30

I lounge around in Yoga pants, a vest top with built in bra/support and a long cardi over.

Oly4 · 22/03/2015 15:43

White Company roll top trousers, vest top and cosy thick hoody. I wouldn't want to see my DH in PJs all the time and I don't want him to see me in mine!

Suitable for day time

VivaLeBeaver · 22/03/2015 16:07

Gap have some nice 3/4 cuffed joggers which are comfy and look ok.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/03/2015 18:03

I've got some Rosie for Autograph cotton/cashmere mix 'lounge pants' which I wear with an ancient cashmere jumper. Or I wear leggings (wouldn't dream of leaving the house in them) with a long H&M vest and a bum-covering cardigan.

leccybill · 22/03/2015 18:15

Love the M&S ones, shame stock levels are as crap as ever. M&S have the most disappointing website ever. They do have the marl grey, I might get them but would have preferred the black.
Looking for something which is cuffed and made out of something that feels really soft.

I have a pair of burgandy lounge pants from asda that were £6. I wear them with a black t shirt and scarf! Just in case I need to look smart

bluesbaby · 22/03/2015 18:40

Jeggings, or shorts. I like my hotpants and old tshirts Blush

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/03/2015 19:23

Uniqlo have some nice ones, I will go back when it's quieter to fathom out the sizings.

I need a lounge bottoms/ top because at the moment, I put on my robe when I get home (I have to change, cannot wear my work clothes indoors).
In the warmer weather though (and hormonal hot flushings) I'll need something layered and respectable.

holmessweetholmes · 22/03/2015 19:28

I never understand this pjs and lounge wear thing. Why do people find their normal clothes uncomfortable? I am currently lounging on the sofa, wearing... my clothes. I am perfectly comfortable.

HandMini · 22/03/2015 19:29

I wear Uniqlo heat tech fitted tops and leggings with a long cashmere cardigan over the top. I really feel the cold.

Rosieliveson · 22/03/2015 19:30

I tend to wear leggings and long tops and cardis around the house. I am comfy, can get on floor to play with my son and don't have to run around in a panic if the door goes.
It's dressed enough that I'm not a scruff bag when DH comes home from work still suited and booted either. Although he tends to change straight into loungewear too.Grin

poocatcherchampion · 22/03/2015 19:32

I know you didnt want PJs but I've got some lovely cuffed ones from sainos. I got them a couple of weeks ago and they are perfection in a pant.Grin

paxtecum · 22/03/2015 19:33

Holmes: the trouser crotch seam sticks in my fanjo.
My bra feels like a straight jacket.

Whatever I have worn for work all day, suddenly feels to uncomfortable when I get home, so I take it off!

Germgirl · 22/03/2015 19:36

I was just about to say Sainsburys but poocatcher beat me to it :)
I bought some harem type trousers, they're a bit of a loud print, a paisley design & I wouldnt actually go outside in them but they're really comfortable & they had several less eye-popping designs. I think they were about £12.
They're more comfortable than leggings I find.

leccybill · 22/03/2015 20:12

Ooh, love Saino's, I'll have to take a trip there especially, haven't got one in my town. They really need to boot their arse into gear with the online clothing, early 2015 they said, it's almost April!

Neither me or dh can stand wearing outdoor clothes in the house.

I have several pairs of yoga trousers and dance trousers (there's probably a proper name from them - people used to wear velour ones a while ago. Pineapple used to do a lot of them) that I wear with old t's and vests.

I do like my lvoely fleecy pjs in the winter though!

missmargot · 22/03/2015 20:47

I really like both the yoga and the harem pants from Charlotte and Co. The website has a tendency to make the clothes look a little frumpy but I've been really pleased with everything I've bought from there.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 22/03/2015 20:57

Our Sainsburys have the Double Up Your Nectar Points Deal at the moment, so if you want clothes, now is good.

I saw the paisley trousers, very lightweight (I was tempted) but I didn't like the mix of patterns.
I did buy some olive green ones though Smile

Good thread. I started a new job working from home in September and have been a bit flummoxed by not having to wear anything smart, ever Grin I can't bring myself to wear pyjamas during the day, I'd feel too slobby, but loungewear seems like a good compromise. Although I still worry that there's a fine line between 'luxe' loungewear from the likes of Hush, and a Juicy Couture velour tracksuit .....
