Tricky hairdresser situation- WWYD?

I've had the same hairdresser do my colour for years- gets it just right. I don't need to go that often- it's a few highlights.

I've not been convinced about the cutting though- okay-ish but not especially great. I've now given someone else a try and think they are better.
But I don't feel confident enough to go with them for colour and I like what I get with the other company.

How do I explain to Hairdresser 1 that I am now having it cut elsewhere?

dont, I do the same
She never asks.
OR say your MIL got you some vouchers somewhere and has gone on and on about using them when you go to hers

I think I'd tell a white lie and say your friend is going to cut it for you free. Or just book in for colour and don't even mention the cut!

I agree. I did actually have a friend of a friend do it for a while and Hairdresser No 1 knew that because I abandoned them for some time- but they aren't available any more, so before finding Hairdresser No 2 I went back to Hairdresser 1.

I always have the same person at No 1 do it- she's lovely and we get on well- so I feel a bit guilty about not being happy with the cutting. It was ok for a while but when the 'friend of a friend's ' handywork grew out, HD 1 didn't do it so well.

I'd book your appointment and just day it's for a colour only and if the hairdresser mentions cutting it then just say your only after a colour and just say you have a friend/family member or someone who does a good cut for free and just say how can I refuse a free cut and smile Grin

just book in for the colour, and don't mention the cut

Excellent advice from Gunpowder. Remember OP, you're the customer, and hairdressers must get used to clients coming and going.

Do what I do, say you've been getting it cut at local college student classes as your mates model, you're helping her so she doesn't charge you... cost implied and it sounds like you're doing a good deed (i did used to do this years ago,it was ace!)

Yes, my friend's daughter who is a trainee has been practicing on my hair for a very long time Smile
