What electrical hair styling device do I need?

I have very thick hair cut in a neck length bob. I had it cut on Wednesday and it was sleek and bobs like.

This morning I washed and dried it. I spent about 20 mins drying it (no mean feat with 2 DCS to get to school). I managed to make it look sort of sleek but with twice the body which wasn't my intention. 7 hours later it has doubled in size again and is frizzy wavy and generally awful, as though I hadn't bothered.

So what appliance do I need. I have a pretty powerful hairdryer but that's it. Any ideas what I can do?

Some really good straighteners (like GHDs) will get it sleek. Make sure you pin it and dry in sections then straighten in sections.

I have been reading reviews of Steam pods which sound good for this type if hair. But quite expensive. It would be interesting to know if anyone's used them and would recommend the to the OP?

GHD and a good sleek conditioner like KMS - dont use on the roots use on 2/3 way down.

My hair sounds like yours, although it's longer. If I don't blow it totally dry it expands throughout the day. I read somewhere, probably one here, about reducing the temperature of your dryer but not the power. It made loads of difference to how 'big' my hair is. There are a lot of good you tube videos on drying hair too. I use Argan oil on towel dried hair too before blowing. I think it makes makes my hair a lot more sleek.

I have very thick hair too about the same length like haribo says I pin it and dry it in sections then pin and straighten in sections and it stays fairly sleek throughout the day. If I don't pin it to dry it then it gets pretty big and not remotely sleek!

I find it's quicker to blow dry it by pinning it too

My hair does this a bit and is helped by Babyliss Big Hair.

I know it sounds like the opposite of what you want, but it makes it look like it's been dried properly with a brush, like what the hairdresser does.

Works for me, makes it all swishy.

Thanks for the ideas so far.

I do dry in sections otherwise I look like a pom-pom!

I've not used straighteners before so unsure about spending what seems like a lot of money.

I've not heard of Steampods before. Would be good to know if any thick-haired MNers have used it.

I'm also intrigued by the suggestion of using the Babyliss Big Hair as I thought that wasn't for people like me.

Would using Morrocan Oil help do you think?
