Recommend your leggings?!

I might be breaking every style and beauty rule in the book, but I don't care. I have a three month old baby and two others under 5, and leggings work for my life right now!

I am looking for nice thick leggings that will hold their shape and colour in the wash, not be see-through, and feel nice. Ideally would like black, dark dark charcoal grey and/or dark dark blue.

I would much prefer to buy them online as very limited local shops, but could make it to better shops if I have to.

Please recommend your leggings!

I wear M&S, Sainsburys Modal (the £10 ones not the 2-for £10 )
sainsburys cord leggings but I can't find them again - boo

Some from Costco that I cannot remember the name of (that was helpful Wink )

I covet the TopShop jegging/leggings but I need to try them on (they're £18 IIRC)

Lots of leggings are too low
I tried George@Asda Modal but the waistband twisted after one wash and I couldn't straighten it.

DD likes H&M, TopShop, Uniqlo

(but she's a slinky size 8 gymnast so she doesn't need the matronly ones that I do)

DidoTheDodo · 20/03/2015 14:10

I like long tall sally, adini and even h&m.
They all have a decent rise, something I insist upon!

ReallyBadParty · 20/03/2015 14:11

I am a sturdy oldster but also like H&M. They come up nice and high too.

patterkiller · 20/03/2015 14:13

The best ones by far that we have are from sainsburys TU. the wash lovely and really hold you in and I think two pairs for £12.

Crazyzowhat · 20/03/2015 15:25

The H&m heavy weight leggings are fab nice and thick and not see through !! Smile

HappyAsASandboy · 20/03/2015 18:24

Thanks for the options! Matronly leggings sound about right, and I also need a good high rise. I'm not sure my ego could cope with taking my post-second-CS-body into Top Shop :(

The nearest sainsburys has a small clothes section, so I'll try there first. H&M is a bit if a trek, but doable if sainsburys doesn't work out.

Thanks everyone :)

ive got some from very that are pretty good.

Also like new look, sainsburys and h&m - can buy online for h&m theres normally discount codes about aswell

I also live in leggings at the moment with long vest tops, funky tshirts and converse Grin

StayGoldPonyBoy · 20/03/2015 19:19

H&m are my favourites

Helish · 20/03/2015 19:21

Next have some good ones for post-baby sturdiness, their more expensive ones are thick and hold everything in. I lived in mine after having my twins

Four125 · 20/03/2015 19:25

I've got some Next ones too, they are sturdy, good quality, they wash well and look good, even when I feel rubbish!

cedricsneer · 20/03/2015 19:25

I second sainsburys. Real belly warmers - mine can go up to armpits if required Wink. They are thick, stretchy and keep their shape. Great especially for post c-section when you don't want anything touching the scar.

superbfairywren · 20/03/2015 19:42

The ones I had from Sainsburys last year were far too low, maybe I bought the wrong ones?! Those of you who have good high rise sturdy leggings from sainsburys, do you know if they have specific names for them and how much they are? I really need to ditch my over bump maternity leggings that fall down, baby is nearly 4 months!!
I always swore by next then they changed the waistband and I found it uncomfortable.

StellaDrift · 20/03/2015 20:03

I like Braintree leggings for when I am looking after the DCs. The are very comfy (high rise) and wash well. I think the do do black, but I quite like them because they have loads of colours that aren't black.

cedricsneer · 20/03/2015 20:59

I find they are all high rise. Especially the modal ones.

hauntedhenry · 20/03/2015 21:37

Hush leggings are the best ever. They are expensive though, I usually wait for a discount code and then buy a couple of pairs.

Beketaten · 20/03/2015 23:48

These are fab, very high waisted and nice thick fabric:

Imeanlikeseriously · 20/03/2015 23:55

Uniqlo trouser type leggings. Honestly when I discovered my life changed for ever. So comfortable, fit me really well. I can't be doing with thin see through leggings.

MintChocAddict · 20/03/2015 23:56

I've had three different style of Henry Holland at Debenhams black leggings and have been impressed by them all. Keep their shape and wash well.

Hadron21 · 21/03/2015 05:15

Fat face. They stay true to colour after washing and are lovely and high on the tummy.

Smarterthantheaveragebeaver · 21/03/2015 08:49

I have some from Mint Velvet. They are fairly high waisted and have a deep, flat waistband which is so much nicer/comfier than the usual strip of elastic at the top, they dont roll down or need hoiking up every 10 paces. Lovely soft fabric too that washes well.

Smarterthantheaveragebeaver · 21/03/2015 08:57

Oh, and if you like patterns and dont mind paying £70 For a pair, Sweaty Betty's Chandrasana yoga leggings look good, feel great, wash well, dont go out of shape and are completely opaque, even when stretched over my bulk. Pricey but worth it, they'll last a lot longer than jersey ones. Theres always discount codes too if you google them.
