Its been a long time since i braved one. 6 children later i am going on a holiday where i am going to need something for the pool What on earth do i wear. I am 47 size 12 verging on a 14 with bad stretch marks in the tummy region. I am average height with a good pair of legs although my upper thighs are a bit wobbly. I would love something that held my tummy in but kind of looked modern like a tankini. I am an E cup. What the hell do i buy. Reading another thread, noone under 80 wears a bathing suit???? Where does that leave me??? Please help if you know of any fantastic swimwear i could try. Thank you so much.

6 children? Wow - impressive.
No specific recommendations but have a look at www.figleaves.com They have loads of choice, with cup sized options too. Also www.bravissimo.com sometimes has really nice options in larger cup sizes. Personally, I am a big fan of the black one piece!

I got a tankini top with 3 frilled tiers...flattering over big boobs and jelly belly.
Bottoms, plus one skirtini.
Skirt cover up in semi sheer asymmetrical tiers. Worn at waist it is ankle length, pulled up onto bust it becomes a midi dress.
All in black with white spot and it looks very poolside-ish. All 4 pieces totalled about £100. Long semi sheer skirt is useful with a t shirt..
It was out of M&Co.

I also have old faithful. Which is a 15 year old blue patterned fantasie swimsuit with bra fitted cup size, cost about £80 at the time, also a blue sarong for legs/ belly cover up.

I've worn a one-piece swimsuit since I was in my early 30s. Not because I dislike my body but because I could never find a bikini that fitted properly and got fed up with all the pulling and tugging and with constantly having to check I wasn't flashing boobs or arse to the world. I found I could put on a swimsuit and forget all about it and it was bliss!

I haven't bought a new one for ages so I'm afraid I can't give much advice on brands other than the usual 'go and try a load on'. I just wanted to wave the flag for swimsuits! I also think they look elegant and 'pulled together'.

I suppose I should add that I'm pretty ancient by s & b standards, although not quite 80 Grin

The vintage high waist bikini look is back and hugely flattering!
This Panache one is the first I came across but there are loads.

There are some nice swimsuits here. Boy short legs are less of a challenge and the tops pull down quite low too.

Branleuse · 19/03/2015 07:50

Boden ones are well made too

Eres swimming costumes are wonderful, heavy material which holds you in without being movement restrictive. Rinse after every use & don't put them in a drier. I have one which is 8 years old and another which is 4, both are still good. They are very expensive but effective & still glamorous. I wouldn't buy their matching wraps as they are too expensive for something unimportant. Go for a flattering colour, not black because black swimsuits look as if you are apologising or trying to disappear. Halter necks work best for me as the provide support.

Pancakeflipper · 19/03/2015 07:56

Go to an independent swimwear (often sell lingerie) shop and they will help you find a flattering one in a colour that suits you. It's often the one you pulled a face at.

I like SeaFolly ones. Not cheap but feel fab.

This swim dress is quite cute. www.very.co.uk/resort-ring-swimdress/1458058326.prd

Simply Be have a large range of flattering swimming costumes, including tankinis, swim dresses and suits. They are not hugely expensive. i love mine! It holds in all the bits i would prefer not to have as well!
