Best Tinted Moisturiser?

I'm very, very lucky in having fairly clear skin so that normally I don't both with any sort of foundation except for maybe some light powder. I'm getting married later this year though and would like to experiment with some sort of foundation or base so I just look a little more polished (doing my make up myself). I thought a tinted moisturiser might be the best bet - I have pale, dry skin (which sometimes powder can amplify!) and I feel a bit claustrophobic in heavy foundations but not sure where to look. Any recommendations would be appreciated, especially ones suited to very pale skin - as it's my wedding day I'm happy to spend a fair amount to get a decent one. Sure the power of mumsnet will come up with something that'll work!

And while we're at it, would appreciate any mascara tips as well...

I use No7 tinted moisturiser. Affordable & it's good

You always see the Laura Mercier TMs recommended on makeup boards. I keep meaning to try one but haven't got round to it yet, so can't speak from personal experience, though.

Liz earle sheer skin tint is lovely and dewy but the lightest shade (bare) is not that light if you are very fair. You need to try it on (go to John Lewis). Another great one but better colours for fair skin is Bobbi Brown.

Thanks for the tips - planning on booking a makeup lesson at bobbi brown so will ask to try it out Smile

Laura Mercier is the queen of tinted moisturiser. What I wore at my wedding. If your skin is dry you might prefer the Illuminating one.

You need Jouer ?? it's fantastic and available at Cult Beauty. It's quite spendy at £30 but it's amazing and makes you look flawless and fresh faced. Apply it with a Real Techniques make up sponge for the ultimate smooth finish

As for mascara - Trish McEvoy gets my vote

Vichy tinted moisturiser lumineuse is amazing - first time I used it I tested it on my hand and the tint was still there after a quick hand wash and for a few hours after..feels very light on the skin though and not heavy at all. Not sure about shades, maybe find some in a chemist and try it out?

Best mascara for me hands down in no 17 HD mascara very cheap but gives you huge separated smooth lashes

I'd book several makeovers at different beauty counters, it will be weird wearing a base so it would be good to compare several, and each will give you ideas. Eg a glowy primer then a very light foundation like Chanel Aqualumiere applied sparingly, and a lovely rosy cream blusher (NARS are good) would be just perfect. Then a 'my lips but better' lipstick. You'll look like you but post amazing sex on a good day Smile

Chanel Les Beiges - glowy and lovely.

Lovewearingjeans · 18/03/2015 20:59

Laura Mercier recommendation from me too.

Meloria · 18/03/2015 21:06

Bourjois CC cream is really good.

MartinRohdesBellybuttonFluff · 18/03/2015 21:10

I also recommend Laura Mercier.

OrinocoTheWomble · 18/03/2015 21:19

Laura Mercier (not the oil free one). It's perfect! £34 in John Lewis. Lasts ages, you can put more layers on for a more solid colour. It goes on beautifully. Very light - you won't know it's there.

MrsMarigold · 18/03/2015 21:37

Laura Mercier for me too although I now also use a Boots botanics BB cream someone suggested on here.

TenuousGrip · 18/03/2015 22:42

Thanks for all the advice, looks like I'll be coming better acquainted with the John Lewis beauty department...

Laura Mercier here too. I have oily skin, so I use the oil free one.

They are usually pretty good at giving out samples if you ask, so it's worth getting a sample or two so you can try before you buy and avoid getting the wrong finish or shade.

It isn't a tinted moisturiser, but Mac Face & Body foundation is also very nice. It's a funny one, because if you just apply it without too much rubbing, it is very sheer, but if you rub it in more, it seems to change to a better coverage. It looks so natural on the skin. I really like it.
