What shoes are your 7-9 year old girls wearing for spring?

Dd has just turned 8. She has school shoes and has been wearing boots at weekends all winter.

I want to get her some spring weekend shoes but not sandals just yet. They need to be proper supportive shoes as her ankles pronate a little. Also she can't do laces yet.

Any ideas?

DD 9 is wearing:
Astro runners
Regular Nike runners
Football studs on grass pitch
Hiking boots
Red crocs
Occasional forays into a pair of Angry Birds slippers

She will be wearing a ballet slipper style shoe with an ankle strap as flower girl to her DAunt's wedding in a few weeks time.

She did wear a similar style shoe with a cross-instep strap for her communion last year, and one with no strap at a DUncle's wedding the year before (that one kept falling off).

But she lives in tracksuits, we rarely even get her into jeans, and she's into outdoors, sports, and other mucking around stuff, all the time.

Sorry, probably not much help for you.

Nike air max to be like her big brothers.
converse she has lace ones but you can get no lace elasticated one.
last years version of these www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Girls-1H-12yrs-Shoes-Boots/Trainers-Plimsols/39139/Girls-1H-12yrs-Canvas-High-Tops.html?NavGroupID=11

or ugg boots as still pretty cold.

BiddyPop · 16/03/2015 10:50

The astro boots do have laces, as do hiking boots,.

But there are lots of nice runners now that have Velcro straps. Some are very girly, while others are feminine without being "princess", IYKWIM. The ones DD has now are a nice turquoise colour with strong pink detailing (not pastel colours). I'm happy for her to wear those when in jeans.

we just brought a pair of skater slip on style trainers from m&s as well, they look cute with skirt and tights in the way that only an 8/9 year old can do www.marksandspencer.com/glitter-effect-trainers/p/p22368265

Dancergirl · 16/03/2015 11:54

Those look nice help although I don't know if they would fit dd, she has such narrow feet. Maybe a trainer style with a velcro strap would do.

Snap! I've got the M&S Daisy print skater shoes for my almost-7yo. She has big and wide feet for her age and can't do laces yet so casual shoes are a real pain to find .

When I get round to it Soon I'll be looking for some sandals, probably Birki-esque, and new Croc-alikes too.

slippermaiden · 16/03/2015 11:58

Converse! All the way!

ThisIsOurBlanket · 16/03/2015 12:15

DD has red and silver Ecco trainers with 3 velcro straps. They came in shiny plum as well, but not in her size.

They cost me a fortune, but were the only ones we could find that fitted her - she has ridiculously narrow feet but a very high instep, and everything she tries on is usually too tight at the top, while the rest of her foot slithers around in all the spare space.

They do look lovely, I think, and DD is very proud of them. these ones

KiteKit · 16/03/2015 12:17

dd is 9 and she is currently wearing black ricossta goretex furlined boots for school, grey fleece lined converse hightops for weekends and some boden silver sparkle velcro closing hightops with dresses and tights. she has ridiculously narrow feet so we find the hightops are good as we can pull the laces in tight for her.

It is very very hard to find casual shoes that she likes to fit her feet! Also it is freezing here still.

Dancergirl · 16/03/2015 12:25

Those Ecco ones look lovely thisis They sound like they might suit dd who is also very narrow.

I'd rather pay a bit more for decent quality footwear and cut down on other clothing.

they are elasticated so should fit on most feet. worth a try?

Converse are good for narrow feet I find. these are the slip on ones www.office.co.uk/view/product/office_catalog/4,85/1891133476

FrChewieLouie · 16/03/2015 13:12

Dd2 (9) has lived in hi-top Converse for the last couple of years. She's another awkward fit - narrow but with a high instep, so she ends up having to wear a bigger size than she actually is. The Converses are the most comfortable we've tried by far. (She can tie laces though.)

Cheerilee · 16/03/2015 13:15

My 7 year old is wearing a pair of hi top trainers from H&M. She is very fussy with her shoes and these are the only ones she'll wear apart from her school shoes. They're very padded so she find them comfy.

Sgtmajormummy · 16/03/2015 13:25

Bata bright blue suede high tops. Lovely colour but not waterproof. I think they will go well with casual tunic/leggings combinations for Spring. She still has to wear out her Christmas shoes (black suede and patent instep strap) and then she'll be into blue Kickers sandals until the Summer when it's velcro strapped "hiker Sandals" for sure!

nevertoomuch · 16/03/2015 13:47

another vote for the M & S daisy print skater style, which DD 8yrs chose herself. DD has arrow feet, so they came up too wide, but with an insole fit very nicely now (and she loves the extra padding of the insole).

nevertoomuch · 16/03/2015 13:48

arrow feet? sorry typo, narrow feet

MissWimpyDimple · 16/03/2015 13:48

Mine (8) had skechers twinkle toes with velcro and is currently still living in boots. She also has crocs and sandals but they won't be out for a while yet.
