Orla Kiely- stingy p&p

Just a general moan. I finally saved to buy an Orla Kiely dress, wanted one for so long. It arrived today, lovely dress, but was packed in flimsy plastic bag so all crushed and creased.
Just dropped off at dry cleaners to be pressed so it no longer looks second hand! Anyone else have this experience with Orla? p&p was £8, so I think they are just being really cheap.

I have never ordered from Orla Kiely but it is very annoying when something arrives like that. I would email them and see if they are willing to refund the P+P as a gesture of goodwill.

I often browse their website but have never ordered anything. I think that is a disgrace. I ordered something from mint velvet a while back. It was beautifully wrapped with the receipt in an envelope. Made me relish the whole opening my parcel experience. Definetly complain. That is an utter disgrace as the prices they charge for their dresses are really expensive and this seems to show little respect for what they have on sale and for their customer. £8.00 for postage seems a rip off to me, especially if it wasnt next day. Standard postage for an item by Royal mail that is tracked is £4.20!!

Hi, poor you. What disgraceful customer service.
Email them immediately and complain. Also Facebook them and if you can, complain via Twitter.

I used to work in retail mail order (back in the day), and I am super fussy about customer service. And I owned my retail business too.

Their stuff is too pricey to be dispatched in a sloppy manner.

Use social media, if you can. They need to pull their service socks up.
My husband tweets about service, good and bad.

Good luck.

Definitely complain. I have had bags from them which have always arrived beautifully packed, even as sales items. Agree with dexter that you have good cause to get your postage refunded as a goodwill gesture. And do tell them that the dress subsequently needed to be professionally pressed because it arrived in such a poor state. It's a disgrace.

PS. Complaining via SM really speeds the process up, in my experience. Had disgusting service last year in a restaurant when I was with my DS who has Asperger's and tweeted about it. They couldn't get in touch quickly enough! Angry

That's dreadful service and not acceptable IMO.

Mind you, I'm still unhappy with my Orla Kiely glasses bought last year. They are SO uncomfortable, they're languishing in a drawer and I've started using an old pair of specs as I just cannot bear the Keily ones. I've been back and forth to the shop but they're not interested.

Thank you for tips. I emailed them but didn't think about social media- I will start my campaign ;)

Yes, do.
I'd bet there will be someone watching the Twitter feed ( if not the boss, himself) and someone following Facebook etc. A whiff of bad publicity gone viral and they'll be onto the mail order dept pronto. Or at least I would be.

Shame you didn't photograph your purchase before you took it to the dry cleaners...

Good luck.

Spidergirl8 · 12/03/2015 20:27

Thanks again- they have refunded my postage. Didn't actually apologise, said that they are currently reviewing their postage methods....
