Tell me your pampering and beauty tips for life with a small baby?

I have 6 w old DD and getting time to myself is fucking impossible not easy. No time for make up (and no point), and my routine is limited to shower plus dragging brush through hair.

So what tiny things can I do to make myself feel a bit less frumpy?

I have already discovered that I can bathe my feet with posh foot salts whilst bfing. Any other good tips? Share yours :)

Mine is to take a shower every day even if it means getting up 5 mins earlier. This time round I made a point of it and got dh to look after the baby while I did that, dried my hair and put on eyeliner and mascara. Could you also get a new haircut to make yourself feel better?

Sleep when she sleeps. Sleep will make you feel and look better more than any products.

I would say a haircut that needs little maintenance on a daily basis. With my first I had long hair that I could put up, and a layered Bob with my second. One thing to remember is that they will be fine in a car seat/ cot while you have a shower Smile

Sleep when they sleep is fab advice, if they sleep! DD would only sleep in the car or moving pram for months so sadly was a no go for me.
Agree with having a shower every day, it makes me feel so much better. Otherwise I'm watching for tips too, DD is 16 months and I've still only managed one haircut since she was born Blush.

Dry shampoo, dry shampoo and dry shampoo!

I have four dcs and 3 are under 5 so I know where you are coming from!
The things I find help me feel a bit "done" are:
I wash my and blow dry my hair at night with dry shampoo I can get 4 days out of one blow dry.
A bit of makeup in the morn takes two mins
A get my nails done (shellac) every two weeks when dc4 was tiny dp would come with me and go for a coffee with the kids.
Eyebrows- I get them done every couple of months it takes 15 mins
I put a bit o fake tan on my face and neck maybe once a week takes away the knackered greyness!

Find a decent hairdresser and salon

I used to go in when baby was small and within an hour would have hair cut and blow dried and nails done at the same time. Used to aim to let baby fall asleep on the way after a feed, but went at quietest time so they would always hold baby if needed.

Take baby in bath with you at home, both clean at once.

Bb cream, powder and eyes done before out if you have been awake half the night

Went running with baby a lot also as excercise

Ooh these are good!

I did get my hair cut at the weekend whilst DH took her. She is also actually a decent sleeper - I get about 6-7 hours a night in two chunks - but she will only nap on my lap so I can't really get additional kip in the day.

I'm managing a shower every morning - postpartum sweets make that a must - so glam!! And washing hair every other day plus blow dry.

The Shellac nails are a good tip plus my eyebrows really need a hedge trimmer taken to them so will rope DH in one other weekend day.

Any others?

Ooh I just thought of another! Footner. My feet were like trotters after I had dcs and I discovered footner after reading threads on here. Something nice about having pretty feet when you not feeling quite as nice as you normally are. :)

mewkins · 08/03/2015 22:37

Oh and bronzer helps! Takes the tired look away!

twirlypoo · 08/03/2015 22:46

Once a week I would put on fake tan, fake eyelashes (the individual ones) and give myself a shellac manicure. It meant that for the rest of the week I had to do sod all except shower and I would still look human

Oly4 · 08/03/2015 22:54

I have found that showering every evening, washing and blow drying my hair then and putting on moisturiser makes me feel so much better. Then I only need a five min spritz in the shower each morning. If I try to wash my hair on a morning then I inevitably leave the house with it still wet...

frankietwospots · 08/03/2015 22:55

Agree with having nails done and always put on some blusher. Liz Earle, Bobbi Brown and Laura Mercier are good.

Judydreamsofhorses · 08/03/2015 22:55

Slapping on an overnight hydrating mask is good for waking up looking less knackered. The Origins Drink Up Intensive one is really good.

SASASI · 08/03/2015 23:23

Agree with fake tan. I use cocoa brown one hr, fab stuff.
And getting nails done - it's a lovely treat!

I also got my hair cut into a choppy bob.
