With the warm weather looming I'd rather not have it on my shoulders and arms. Tia.

The only thing that has ever helped mine (all over my thighs, calves and back of upper arms) is a summer holiday! The mix of sunshine and the sea transforms my skin within days, smooth and clear. sadly it goes back to how it was within a week of returning. Ive vtried replicating it with salt baths and sunbeds (I know I know) but it didnt really work.

Flexitol heel stuff helps slightly with the KP on my upper arms but its expensive for the result I find.

Cloudhowe63 · 08/03/2015 22:08

Bought Flexitol leg cream today in Superdrug. 'Twas only £5.99. Haven't tried it yet but heard it cd help KP.

cerealqueen · 08/03/2015 23:36

Dry skin brushing and coconut oil with a couple of drops of tea tree oil did it for DD and me.

mrscumberbatch · 08/03/2015 23:44

Goats milk soap has fixed it for me.
I use cowboy comb's goats milk soap with spearmint.

WellTidy · 09/03/2015 11:46

Alfie I've bought it in superdrug previously.

MrsEdinburgh · 09/03/2015 16:21

Bizarrely after stopping using body lotion mine has gone. I just use a creamy shower wash with one of those scrunchy net shower things. My skin is lovely & soft.
Think I read it somewhere to try it.

squoosh · 09/03/2015 16:24

Eating lots of oily fish is the thing that works best for me. Better than any lotion.

burnishedsilver · 09/03/2015 16:42

Pregnancy.
It's a bit drastic admittedly.

Bamaluz · 09/03/2015 16:43

Mine disappeared when I started taking omega 3,6,9 capsules, for health reasons. I have now stopped taking them and it hasn't come back.

slithytove · 09/03/2015 16:55

Soap and glory scrub of your life worked for me

cerealqueen · 09/03/2015 22:49

Yes burnishedsilver mine went in pregnancy too, as did my polymorpic light eruption (sun allergy) The latter never came back though.

VenusRising · 10/03/2015 01:34

Pregnancy cured mine, and the progesterone only pill worked too.

I get a bit in the first two weeks of my cycle as I'm off all hormonal contraception, so I scrub with a creamy shower gel (no sls) and moisturise with neom- works well. If I shave my arms it's much better.

Of course sunshine works, but you have to not give a monkey's be brave for a few days!

brakespeare · 10/03/2015 13:15

Anyone got it on their face? my lovely dd has it on her cheeks :(

withaspongeandarustyspanner · 10/03/2015 14:40

My son has this. I've heard that it can be related to dietry issues. How are you with gluten?

MrsKravitzFromAcrossTheStreet · 10/03/2015 15:42

YY withasponge as I said upthread, mine cleared up when I went paleo, which is no gluten or dairy, amongst other things. I increased my vitamin D3 and essential fats also and my skin everywhere, along with my nails and eyes (bright and sparkly), has improved drastically.

I strongly believe that kp is an outward sign of an underlying health issue, probably a food sensitivity or deficiency. Putting creams on top of it will never get to the cause of it.

withaspongeandarustyspanner · 10/03/2015 19:48

Sorry, I only skimmed. Interesting. I should try changing my son's diet - though I can only control it so much as they wouldn't follow it at school without a note from a doctor.

u32ng · 10/03/2015 20:00

Whilst spending a fortune in boots today I bought Soap & Glory scrub of your life and the flexitol 10% stuff. Will see how I get on!

Like others, the only thing that really has a short term effect is a sun holiday.

I've heard about the gluten link before. scares me a bit as I love all the foods that have gluten in them! Bread, mmmm...

Hi - I know this thread has pretty much ended, but I wanted to share my discovery with fellow KP sufferers! I have been introduced to Ameliorite and have been using it on my son who has suffered terribly from KP on his eyebrows, cheeks, upper arms and thighs. I've used it for a week and the results are incredible! Feeling a bit emotional about it because whilst it's not bothering him too much other children have started to notice and comment... Really interesting to read what others have been using and having success with.

suchafuss · 21/09/2015 14:00

Another vote for flexitol

duckduckchickn · 09/03/2016 23:07

Exfoliating body mitts. They're like sandpaper. Use just after a bath. Perfect skin in morning. A light body oil after and done. Discontinue if too If red and sore and don't do everyday. No need to shave as also gets rid leg hair. Does come back after a while. Just repeat. Silkymit buy at super drug stores

KelleeK · 01/11/2016 17:05

I have had KP all my life. I remember being very embarrassed about it when I was in my teenage years. My dermatologist told me to just wait because it tones down when you reach your thirties. Well it never went away. I have it on my arms, thighs and cheeks. I found something online that worked so well for me. First I use a scrub, I have a lot of different brand name scrubs, some from the body shop. You just need any type of scrub to help unplug the clogged follicles while you shower . Then I bought a lotion from etsy, its called Tidy Body. I don't know what makes it work but it made my kp at least 50% better. It has zinc oxide in it so I think that reduced the redness and all these other oils. This really helped me. I tried other stuff with urea and lactic acids and AHAs but this lotion was the best by far. This condition sucks and I hope everyone finds a way to cope. Good luck.

Suziboo · 21/09/2019 12:24

Best lotions treatment for Keratosis Polaris please? Doctors seem oblivious, yet it is a great cause of stress to me.
On an old thread, someone suggested flexitol 'leg' cream but I can only find flexitol for feet and don't like sticky thick creams. X

MoltonSilver · 21/09/2019 15:12

Flexitol worked for me but plan B, if it hadn't worked was Ameliorate, which gets brilliant reviews.

Suziboo · 21/09/2019 15:48

Is that the flexitol 10%? And Thank you x
