First hair cut in 7months tomorrow. Help. Pic included

I have my first hair cut in 7months tomorrow. The last haircut was a total disaster. The cut itself was fantastic but the hair dresser totally misunderstood and chopped far too much off.
I have been growing it and now it is just annoying, shapeless and mumsy.
What should I ask for tomorrow? I don't want too much off the length as I am trying to grow it as I'm getting married in September and want to be able to do something with it.

Please help me. I know I won't sleep tonight thinking about it.

This is what Happened on Saturday. I'm gutted. It's so thin and wispy. I'm going to have to have more off the length I think. Why is it impossible for a hair dresser to just do a trim?

I'd complain to that hairdresser if I were you.
You said no thinning and they did it. I'd want my money back or at least a cut you are totally happy with from the top hair dresser.

It looks fine straight on but the side view does look wispy. Sorry!

I have been known before to stand up in a hairdressers and say 'Stop - what on earth are you doing to me when I've said?' before it was too late. It was too late (wispy thing also), but I didn't pay for them to make me look like a twit. Angry

Meant to say '...when I've said I want a blunt cut'

It's not that bad by the way and definitely salvageable. I hope what I wrote doesn't make you think that you look like a twit. I was referring to myself!

Lol I knew what you meant. Believe it or not, it was cut by the top hairdresser and wasn't cheap. To be honest, I think I'll just grin and bear it until after the wedding. I really don't want to lose anymore length now. I've got into the habit of wearing these ear corrector thingys to lessen the "woah" impact of my ears lol. So I can pin a bit of it back so it doesn't look so shite lol

this style would suit you more.

Time for a new hairdresser and a restyle. Better to have a shorter good hairstyle than hanging onto limp length.

BatCrapCrazy · 10/03/2015 09:48

I love that style but I think my fringe would wash it out and i really don't want to lose my fringe :( (big forehead as well as big ears over here lol)

A side swept fringe reduces the appearance of a high forehead and it would cover your ears. I think if you had it cut in that style you wouldn't have to over style your hair and let it's own natural texture be a feature. I think less of a heavy fringe would balance out the sides.

Just my two pence! Smile

I've pinned a bit back and tried to poof it a bit. Think it looks a bit better

I wouldn't bother going back. They never give refunds generally, only offer to fix it, and what's done is done. It's not bad, you look fab still - don't worry about it. The main thing is that you still have length, so hopefully the layers will grow and get some weight back on the ends). Why don't you get matched for a clip in hair extension for your wedding day if you want it long. They're great for things like that, and you have enough hair that it wouldn't be at all noticeable it was a hairpiece. But go to someone else next time, and when you find one you like, keep them! I make it known I only want the dust off (very ends, hardly anything at all) I'd not be happy otherwise!

You look great with a fringe too. Really suits you. Why don't you just cut the ends off and give it a blunt cut which will then add weight and thickness instantly. Your not getting married for 6 months so plenty of time to grow 3 inches.

ThinkingOutLouder · 10/03/2015 21:47

I stupidly went and got a 'trim' about week ago after several months, like you I've been growing my hair, the longest length was about armpit length. I asked for a trim, just as little as poss - it's now on my shoulders!!! Arghh all those frigging months of growing for nowt! And I always go for a dry trim as well so it's not like they can't tell what or how much they're taking off! Think I'll go back to doing it myself again, & getting hubby to tidy up the ends at the back - at least then I know it will just be a trim.

MrsTShelby · 11/03/2015 10:54

I think the last pic where you have styled it yourself looks great.

I would leave it to grow again and then get the ends cut off in a blunt style.

Keep the fringe - that's what makes it non mumsy and fresh.

What about adding a bit of texture on the wispy bits by curling slightly with the straighteners or mussing up with salt spray?

WipsGlitter · 11/03/2015 11:04

Looks much better in the last pic. They have thinned it out so much - I hate it when they do that!!!

Although the last time I got my hair cut the hairdresser said he was going to take some weight off and I got all panicked and he pointed out he had being doing my hair for about 10 years and hadn't made a boo-boo yet!
