Brief Gloat - Not for Those With Hair Insecurities

I had my hair cut this afternoon at a new salon near work.
Chap combed it out and said 'Ooh, it's in good condition, isn't it?'
I blushed and modestly attributed it to not using blow dryer, straighteners etc.
Then he said 'And this colour in it is lovely, do you go to London to have it done?'
And I preened - I've never dyed my hair in my life.

(Sorry about that - DH wouldn't appreciate it and I had to tell someone.)

I too never blow dry my hair or use any other heat apliances, I never put products in my hair too, but one hairdresser rufused to believe my blonde hair was natural, I was actaually quite insulted by that.

How nice, I'd be pleased too! As it is ... I can only dream of anything nice to be said about my hair, especially now we've entered 'frizzy season'!

MrsBadger, I went to my usual hairdresser for a trim the other week and a new girl had just started. She asked me if I was having my colour re-done, she was so shocked when I told her that I'd never had it coloured in my life (I'm 39). She made me really embarrassed when she announced to the whole salon, "we've a colour virgin over here!".

My hairdresser doesn't beleive that my hair is not permed. I never use heat appliances either (except when I get my hair coloured) and when I leave it to dry I put a tiny about of conditioning milk on the ends and it dries into spiral curls.

If my hair sees a brush I turn into crystal tips and if I dare to use mousse, it goes like an afro curl and i can't comb or do anything with it.

I dye mine because the grey makes me look older. It looks fantastic (presumably like yours) for about two weeks then the brash, orange, dyed look takes over for the next 8 weeks or so before I get round to dyeing it again.

It's a vicious cycle.

It particularly grates because my mum (66) doesn't have a single grey hair yet.

Ah, you are lucky!

I use straightners which may be bad - I know! - but I am afraid my hair generally looks pretty terrible without help!

VermiciousKnid · 26/10/2006 19:49
