turkey neck

I caught sight of myself today and couldn't quite believe how aged my neck looked. It's so very depressing. Is there anything that isn't surgery we can do or must I resign myself to premature aging?

Watching with interest! I'm off sick at the moment and was channel surfing when I saw Dr Perricone Cold Plasma Sub-D. I was very tempted as my neck is awful, but the fell asleep! Has anyone tried it?

I have :) I have posted loads of times but noone ever says anything that really works. What age are you? I am 47 and i have crepiness and saggyiness. Sad too as my face doesnt look my age. I have been using nivea creme [ the blue pot] and find it really has helped. I havent been putting it on religiously though recently and my neck is back. The moisuriser does help me anway. I think the only thing that will help is retinol based creams.

Wear your hair up, natural face lift?

Eliza22 · 05/03/2015 19:28

I've taken to using moisturiser on my neck, every time I'd use hand cream working on the theory that morning and evening are not enough. I use the Olay 3 Point Treatment Cream.

I'm no help Alpine, but I came on here to post exactly the same question!

I've just remembered that I bought some retinol based cream last year off a website I saw recommended here (I think) and then I was afraid to use the cream as the box was a bit battered and dodgy looking. Mind you the tube of cream itself looked fine but still.

I'm off to root it out and see if it has an expiry date - if its within date I will start using it this weekend.

I'm 55 and my face has aged really well so far but oh my God my neck, whenever I catch sight of myself turning my head its the neck of an old crone.

One thing I do, and I'm lucky as I have a long neck so it looks ok, is I wear high necked tops if I can find them. Next do a nice (sleeveless roll neck) top and I have it in a few different prints, only thing that would make it better is if they did a version with sleeves - the tops of my arms are not for public display any more.

I have a big collection of scarves, the long wide light cotton type that can be wrapped round a couple of times without being too hot, but that's a sort of casual look and doesn't always work for more formal occasions.

I've started growing my hair longer, its been in a bob for years, but I figure more hair will provide better turkey neck coverage.

If I win the lottery I'm having a neck lift.

OK, 56 here and neck is great. I use my Clarisonic on it about twice a week or exfoliate with the Clinique stuff. Currently washing face and neck with Clarins Shea Butter facewash, tone with their chamomile toner, and the neck gets either Clarins neck cream or the stuff in the red tube that costs a bomb.
I have been doing this or variations for at least 25 years as I was determined not to get a turkey neck.

What does retinol do? Do you need a prescription?

Alpinecrunch · 06/03/2015 07:37

I'm in my early forties. I'm just beginning to see some serious signs of aging. The skin under my chin is my main problem. I'm shocked at how loose it is. I've tried daily exercises but it's not working. I've put in a lot of weight and wonder if that's not helped. I think I'll book in to a clinic for a chat about non surgical options. It's really starting to depress me. Sad

Alpha H Liquid Gold glycolic acid treatment 2-3 times a week will help improve the appearance of it (it's a chemical exfoliant and treatment). Sweep it on face and neck after cleansing (not eye area) with a cotton wool disc and don't put anything else on afterwards (serums, moisturisers etc) as they interfere with the efficacy of it. It's fine to use your serums etc in the morning and on the nights you don't use the liquid gold.

Alpinecrunch · 06/03/2015 09:53

I'm off to order the liquid gold. I'll give anything a go.

I'v just ordered Bravura glycolic 10% lactic 2% and a derma flannel. I also need to up my exercise and I'm planning a run at lunch time. I'll try to reduce my sugar and up my water content too which should all help. Thanks for the inspiration folks.
