Can anyone recommend a face cream with anti wrinkle and firming properties that won't break the bank. Moisturizer just ain't cutting it these daysWink

I use a serum before moisturiser morning and night.

I use a vitamin C one am - either una Brennan from boots or ole Henriksen truth serum, which is a bit spendy

I use Estée Lauder advances night repair, Ren Omega 3 serum and oils in the evening.

You are best using an exfoliating toner and treatments (masks, serums, oils) and keeping your skin really well moistirised

I don't think there are any reasonably priced anti wrinkle creams I'm afraid.

no such thing however much you pay, sorry.

to reduce (Not prevent) further wrinkles:

  • use sunscreen
  • don't smoke
  • eat properly
babybottombutter · 04/03/2015 14:10

Well, yes, some creams do improve the APPEARANCE of fine lines, which is what everyone wants really.

jemstipp · 04/03/2015 14:26

Hahaha specialsubject. I don't smoke, am not a sun worshipper and genuinely don't eat crap. I do, however, have horses. Which means my hands are like those of a ninety year old lol. Damn ladies. I thought for sure there'd be something. Not even Ultralift by Garnier? Tell me Davina isn't lying

I really wouldn't bother.

I like Age Arrest from Kate Somerville but you can only get it in America for loadsamoney.

specialsubject · 04/03/2015 17:04

why would horses make your hands old?

'improve the APPEARANCE of...' - i.e. does nothing measurable.

I note that even the ads now show no difference at all with the magic potions, presumably because the regs on fakery have been tightened up.

This is probably not original but is interesting:

Oh well. I shall have to grow old gracefully then. And horses make your hands old as you're outside most of the day in all weathers and gloves don't really make much of a difference lol

Retin A works -from dermatologist or eBay . Research how to use it first there is loads of info .

jemstipp · 04/03/2015 18:43

Thanks ggirl. I wonder would it work on my hands lol

Horses bugger up your hands. And face.
As do dogs.
Washing, leads, out in all weather.

I love L'Occitane Creme Divine, even though that's the naffest ever name for a product and it's expensive.

These days it's Superfacialist Rose Night cream or something, which is really nice but not quite all that.

Or there is the La Roche Posay Redermic range - seriously good and good value, I think I'll switch back to that after I finish the current one.

jemstipp · 04/03/2015 18:55

I have four dogs too Ottila lol

No hope for you then.
Grin

jemstipp · 04/03/2015 19:00

Afraid not then. Youngish old lady it is then lol

Just think about it OP - if those products worked, no one would age.
People look older not because they don't use face creams- they look older due to ageing!

Sagging can't be stopped forever because it's down to loss of collagen, and muscle tone, and fat from the face. All that works is surgery, fillers or the new Y face lifts using threading and fillers.

Wrinkles can be plumped up and temporarily filled with creams but only as long as you use them.

Honestly, the best you can do- especially if you are outside a lot- is use a high SPF ( 40 or 50) every single day on top of moisturiser and eat lots of good fats- olive oil, avocado, almonds, oily fish, loads of green veg etc.

OttiliaVonBCup · 05/03/2015 08:55

You're right Frocks, of course you can't stop the ageing. it only stops when you die.

But you can make your skin look better while ageing, even when temporarily plumped up it makes me feel better.

A nice pot of moisturiser and two minutes in front of the mirror in the evening looking at my face in mirror and smoothing the day away are time and money well spent for me.

pinkfrocks · 05/03/2015 09:08

I've a bathroom cabinet full of skin care- to keep my skin moisturised and in good condition. But I don't kid myself that they are holding back ageing.

Moisturisers, serums, face packs etc. I like Olay regenerist 3-point, most Clinique moisturisers except the gungy yellow lotion, Trilogy Rosehip oil, and E Lauder Day Wear lotion SPF 50.

Skin feels and looks good- but anti ageing? Nah!

jemstipp · 05/03/2015 12:07

I'm not naive enough to think that aging can be reversed or stopped, just had hoped to slow it down a small bit.
