What have been your 'game changer' beauty products?

I'm always keen to try out new beauty products but am fed up of spending good money on products that are a bit meh. What have been your real 'game changer' beauty products? Which products have really made a difference? For me, applying Estee Lauder Double Wear with the Real Techniques stippling brush was a lightbulb moment. I just wish I could replicate that experience with skincare products!

Tropic skincare range and bourgeois foundation. I have fab photo ready skin with these.

I use the hot cleanser, toner, oil and moisturiser and it has made a huge difference.

bourgeois foundations are amazing, smell good, light and blend really well Smile

Aridane- I did the 30% Glycolic acid peels last year on the back of a thread on here, and have just ordered some retinol from Thailand {shock]

Shonajay, thanks for the Mac tip, I've never tried any Mac before, maybe it's time to give it a go!

LabradorMama · 04/03/2015 18:00

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm is my HG cleanser, I can't rave about it enough. It's made such a difference to my skin that I haven't worn foundation for about 2 years. I used to wear Estée Lauder Double Wear every day!

La Roche Posay handcream Absolutely brilliant.

The new Benefit Rollerlash is very good. I've only got a sample size at the moment, but will definitely be treating myself to a full size one.

Agree about Aveeno - excellent.

Sleepyfergus · 04/03/2015 18:19

Remus - Boots are doing some Benefit promo if you buy 2 things, one of which must be that new mascara. Smile

So the Urban Decay primer potion seems like a no-brainer but just looked on the John Lewis site and there are several options:

The normal one
The anti-age one
The ones that come in colours

Which one should I go for?

Clarins Double Serum. I find most other serums quite drying, but this is a moisturising serum. I use it at night, my skin looks smoother, plumper and more hydrated by morning. My nose-to-mouth lines have vanished and I'm no longer considering Botox.

PurdeyBirdie · 04/03/2015 18:42

Neal's Yard frankincense nourishing cream.

I agree that Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation is the dog's testickulays.

Bio Oil

Branleuse · 04/03/2015 18:53

neals yard rose oil

Brutalista · 04/03/2015 19:01

nothing will ever shrink my gaping pores, especially the crater on my nose resulting from some teenage home-surgery on a giant spot Confused

So Benefit Porefessional beautifully covers them better than polyfilla.

Some folks aren't fans of the stuff it's made from but I care not.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 04/03/2015 19:09

Oooh, I have just bought some NY Rose Oil as a change to my Frankincense. Looking forward to it arriving now Bran!

Terramirabilis · 04/03/2015 19:13

Agree with PPs about Urban Decay eyeshadow primer. Also rate Anastasia products for brows (are they available across the pond?). The brow pencil with built in comb and the brow gel are both good. And tarte BB creme.

Terramirabilis · 04/03/2015 19:14

Frankie I have only used the normal one (I assume you mean the light purple tube one?) It's great.

Jenni2legs · 04/03/2015 19:23

I really like HD brows - you think it's going to be a faff using a powder palette for just your eyebrows but it's so easy and looks miles better than a pencil - it really looks like eyebrows.

If your in a rush you can always chuck some on as eyeliner and shadow too as there are four different shades.

I got mine in a beauty box, I would have never picked it up, but it's one one my favourite make up items.

TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 04/03/2015 19:24

My game changer was caroline hirons blog and her routine cheat sheet. A cleanse, tine, hyrolauron moisturiser and serum. 5 mins in the morning and every one comments. The stuff I use isn't expensive but it's stuff she has tried and her skin is similar to mine. Body shop cleanser. Superdrug vitamin e serum. All affordable. totally game changing. Especially for my skin.

One game changing tip I learned but ye already knew it I would say, is to bring the moisturiser down to the chest and neck. It has really improved the tine and crepeyness of my chest.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/03/2015 19:25

Thanks, Sleepy. :)

Kathyface · 04/03/2015 19:28

For hands that need moisture without chemicals and are prone to eczema, I swear by this Beeswax Hand & Foot cream. It's the only thing I can put on my sensitive skin when having a flare-up. Been buying it for about 5yrs www.bskincare.co.uk/products/Hand-Foot

Penguinsaresmall · 04/03/2015 19:36

Definitely hot cloth cleansing, it's amazing the difference it makes. But I don't buy any special products, I just use coconut oil and a flannel.

winterinmadeira · 04/03/2015 19:36

For me it's clarins blue orchid oil - eased my dehydrated skin and with that the lines on my forehead. It also helps me sleep better which is a bonus.

AnnieMoor · 04/03/2015 19:42

My clarisonic, love it.

My beautician thought I'd been having sneaky facials somewhere else when I last saw her, as she said my skin looked so good.

Facial massage with rosehip oil.

yazzy85 · 04/03/2015 20:25

WipsGlitter on Caroline's Cleansing cheat sheet she says "If you are wearing make-up with sunscreen in it or just good old sunscreen you need to double cleanse. If you aren't, one cleanse is sufficient."

Elemis trienzyme cleanser for me, had years of hormonal spots and this just kicks their butt, I hardly break out now and they go quickly. Love the body shop Vit e range too. Other than that, lots of products but nothing else I have been loyal to.

Wootton007 · 04/03/2015 20:38

I use aveeno from head to toe which is great for dry skin.my son 8 likes it too.

Loch1 · 04/03/2015 20:55

I've recently signed up to birchbox for this same reason. Before, I grudged paying for products unsure what I would like. It's £12.95 a month and you get to try samples of premium beauty products according to your profile which you complete online when you sign up. I've now managed to identify products that I love! Such as Liz Earle shampoo and English Laundry perfume. It's such a good way to try before you buy and a real treat every month to open and discover what goodies are inside!
