Hair disaster

So the first pic is me with one length half a head of highlighted hair, not perfect by any means.
Second pic is my "trim" some layers are now shorter than a bloody fringe.
Third pic is another hairdressers attempt to sort it out.
It's so thin and wispy now you can see through it.
Any ideas ?
3 years ago my hair was as long as the first pic and I was growing it ... This keeps on happening to me ??

I think the 3rd pic is the best by far. It looks like your hair is very similar to mine, immensely thick. I have mine thinned out a bit to help it keep it's shape when it's styled rather than just hanging. I think it looks really nice, are you just a bit shocked by the change?

Shenton · 28/02/2015 17:03

No it's so so thin it's see through now and if course that was when the hairdresser did it, now I'm home imagine worzal gumage

I too think the third pic is the best, it looks lovely and glossy, and beautifully styled.

MrsRonBurgundy · 28/02/2015 17:04

I bet it's much nicer than you think it is. It looks lovely in that picture.

Shenton · 28/02/2015 17:04

This is it one length and "done" I could just cry

It IS lovely. Seriously, it looks really really nice. Better than the first two pictures. It looks really groomed and stylish. Cheer up, it's fab

Honestly it's rod Stewart circa 1973 now spiked short bits at the top and scruffy see through curls at the bottom ... But he didn't touch the length I'll give him that ...
Are Extentions the answer I'm just worried they will ruin it even more ... Alternative is just to chop it I guess

hiccupgirl · 28/02/2015 17:10

Sorry but I agree that it looks awful in picture 3. Not styled just chopped all over the place. Unfortuantly my solution would be to chop it back up to your shoulders and start again with it all a similar length.

Sorry Sad

MrsRonBurgundy · 28/02/2015 17:10

If you're really unhappy with it, you could have some extensions to give you some volume. Or chop it to even out and then grow back out

Shenton · 28/02/2015 17:13

It's worse than pic 3 now I'm trying to do it at home, you can just imagine ... So angry. I'm going back on Tuesday for the manager to look at it but let's face it he can't put my hair back can he

I've had a Rod Stewart hair cut before (to the hilarity of my friends) and I can only offer you my sympathies. You have three options. Extensions, less length overall or wait for it to grow/settle down a bit. The upside is that the shorter layers will grow out pretty quickly and you'll be left with a shape that lasts longer. Perhaps some up dos for a while.

And yes, your arms are super!

TalkinPeace · 28/02/2015 17:22

How old is your youngest baby?
Not a stupid question.
If the youngest is under 2, your body may still be rebuilding its reserves and your hair will recover.
I had alopecia after 2nd one. Hair re grew properly after about 3 years.

SuperFlyHigh · 28/02/2015 17:24

I agree with hiccupgirl I think I'd prob start again. Maybe lay off highlights for a while to see if that helps with condition.

It looks as if your hair is like mine looks better with long layers at back sometimes feathering at sides. Also have you tried a side fringe?

I'd also try to dry naturally, hair masks etc for at least 3 months. Minimise heated appliances and use hair protection spray if you do.

Shenton · 28/02/2015 17:25

My baby is 5 in June ??

Are the photos not doing it justice? Because it looks gorgeous to me - lovely colour, great layers, good length Confused

SuperFlyHigh · 28/02/2015 17:26

Why don't you also go darker (darker colour with highlights) to give your hair a rest too?

Extensions hmmm never sure unless I knew someone amazing who'd do them!

Shenton · 28/02/2015 17:27

I'm thinking start again.
I'm also thinking of suggesting to the salon manager that they put in extensions for free, I'll pay for the cost of the hair but they have stuffed this up, I had a lovely side fringe and the condition wasn't "that" bad it really wasn't

I agree with sir too it looks quite good in last pic but only you know your hair, how you like it etc.

Shenton · 28/02/2015 17:34

It's just not like that at home ... Loo brush is the only accurate description !

OP posts:
SuperFlyHigh · 28/02/2015 17:44

I know what you mean op hair stylists often make it look much better.
