Hair dye

I am 25 and have a fair bit of grey coming through- single strands and groups of strands so not like a grey line of roots or anything. It doesn't really age me, but makes me look a big scraggy and like I haven't made an effort.
I recently had my hair cut short, so got rid of all the old faded orangey dye jobs and back to my natural colour which I like.
I don't want to start dying it again and end up with horrible lines all over my hair where different dyes have grown out so was wondering if MNers had any advice on good dyes to use, would semi-permanent to the job of covering the grey without having much of an impact on my natural colour?

Anyone?

I have similar amount of grey and hoped semi-permanent would cover greys while keeping the rest looking natural but it just didn't cover the greys properly at all so have gone for a permanent dye in a colour most similar to mine. Probably worth giving the semipermanent dye a go though, I might just have stubborn greys...

Could you just apply the dye to the bits that need it instead of the whole head? Maybe get one of those root touch up kits that have a brush in and use that?

I used root touch up and it lasted two washes. Rubbish! I use mascara!!

Thanks ladies! Root touch up probably wouldn't work all that well, I have so many little single strands that it would end up looking patchy I think. I don't mind having to re-do it once a month or so as long as it wouldn't leave a really obvious line in my hair if I decided to stop

You could try something like Adore dyes, they do some nice natural colours.

I've found that true semi-permanents like Adore tend to last longer on grey hair than on virgin hair. You can also mix some in with your conditioner to keep the colour touched up in between dyeing the whole lot.

Visit a salon and get a colourist to do it. In my experience home dying including root touch up kits can cause nasty build up and turn your hair all different colours. Get a professional to do it. Expensive but worth it!

I would visit a salon if I could afford to Wine, but it's at least £45 round here, not really an amount I could justify just now, sorry I should have said so in my OP!

Those Adore ones do look good HCachum do you know of any shops that stock them? Or are they just online?

I've not seen them stocked anywhere but I buy most of my hair dye stuff online anyway.
