Usually go to M&S, but last time, the fitter seemed obsessed with 'coverage' of the boob by the bra, and advocated me putting my index fingers down my cleavage gap and drawing my fingers outwards to get a good fit Hmm.

I usually do the hoik and scoop thing, so it all felt a bit wrong.

Anyway, I have measured DD and myself and would like suggestions for sizes to try, and shops and makes of bra.

I am 33 under and 37 over the top. Currently wearing 32c or 34c, but the cups don't look quite wide/broad enough, although they contain things well.

DD (14) is 31 under and 36 over. Currently wearing 32b (or maybe 34b from weird M&S lady).

I like a bit of lift and, ahem, boost (padded!). DD just wants plain and comfy Smile. She hates a tight bra Hmm

Please suggest away!

Firstly, have you measured as detailed here?

If not, measure that way and report back.

But for sure, neither of you are in the right size atm!

iwantgin · 27/02/2015 20:12

Neither of you are wearing large enough cup sizes.

The band sizes seem about right, maybe daughter could go down a band size.

You should try a 32 E or F

Daughter 30 DD, E or F.

DD might want to try a 32d/dd if she doesn't like tight too - when you're an odd numbered underbust generally it's good to try the band above and below

Right, I've measured. If I pull it tight I'm just under 32 underneath. Leaning over I'm 37.5 over the top. I've tried bigger co=up sized before but I don't fill them at all (my boobs fit my hands quite well and I have small hands!). Any suggestions for makes of bra that might suit small boobs that are masquerading as larger ones?!

Would you describe your boobs as bottom heavy? So, rather than being rounded from the top, they are more of a teardrop shape sort of thing?

Mine are like this (I'm a 30ff to your 32f so the same volume), and fit in my hands. In the right size plunge bra they look all wrong, but in a half cup, they def fit and look marvellous (after I was interventioned).

iwantgin · 27/02/2015 21:02

Pretty similar tomy measurements.

I have been wearing a 32E recently. I do prefer non-padded/formed bras though.

some of my favourites are from Debenhams - the Gorgeous range seem good. My boobs are really quite small/average - it's quite a shock to be buying E cups - but they do fit.

Yes CMOT, they aren't droopy (I can't hold a pencil underneath them, it just drops to the floor), but they are definitely more rounded underneath and slope-like on the top.

They look good in a push-up kind of bra, but a bit meh in anything non wired. What is a half cup bra - is it one that is sort of diagonal across your boob, in which case, that is my sort of bra.

iwantgin 32e sounds huge! I do benefit from padding/forming though!

This is a half cup style (you can filter by bra style on bravissimo). You can see how the fuller part sits in the cup where it should be, but no material on the gentle slope

Gown · 27/02/2015 21:48

Gah! My browser is blocking Bravissimo. That sounds right though, thank you.
