Can anyone recommend an acid toner?

If an acid toner is what I need? I'm 39 with fairly dry / dehydrated skin which is a bit sensitive and can break out if irritated. Examples of this are heavy moisturisers, thick/siliconey foundations. Blackheads on nose, a few forehead lines but otherwise generally in good nick. Foundation/tinted moisturisers tend to dry out my skin after a few hours. Aim is to brighten and smooth my skin a bit, try and reduce the dry patches and even it out. Is an acid toner what i need??

I don't think I would. Have you considered a course of micro-dermabrasion, or no & do a 'peel kit'?

Lovewearingjeans · 26/02/2015 19:33

I am trying the Pixiwoo one, will let you know how I get on! Perhaps a serum would help? Vichy do a good one, Aquilia Thermal, in a silver and blue box. Really helps adding moisture to my skin.

Thanks.

I have tried a couple of serums and results ranged from "meh" to breakouts. No actual positive improvement was noted so I didn't continue to use. I'm using vitamin e oil at night at the moment to see if that helps. I have no idea what peels really are and am a bit worried they might freak my skin out. I had a horrible red rash once just from trying Neals yard rose moisturiser on my face Confused

The clarins brightening toner is good.

hauntedhenry · 26/02/2015 20:38

I have the Clarins one too, and also the Alpha H liquid gold. They are both excellent for my combination skin, but I don't know how very dry skin would react. The Clarins one is milder than the Alpha H.

P50w, sorts out my flaky dehydrated skin a treat.

bettybigballs · 26/02/2015 21:06

You also sound like you might be using products that don't agree with you. The drying out you describe suggests dehydration. What products do you use?

bettybigballs · 26/02/2015 21:10

Sorry that didn't make much sense. Bkackheads rare in truly dry skin, can be more common on dehydrated skin if there are product issues.

rootypig · 26/02/2015 21:10

Ren Clarimatte!

Flambola · 26/02/2015 21:41

I'm using a Boots Botanics one at the mo. It's the only one that my skin hasn't reacted with but it seems to be working a treat.

Paddingtonthebear · 27/02/2015 07:21

Skin isn't really dry, but does feel tight after washing / shower and has some dry flaky patches.

Alpha H liquid gold two nights a week. Google it for reviews from QVC. It's the dog's whatsanames on my 50 yr old combination/dehydrated/hates overload skin.

It's the only product I won't be without. I change cleansers and moisturisers regularly but always slot this in twice a week at night on cleansed skin and no moisturiser afterwards.

I am having great results with the loreal laser renew products, a night serum and a day one too with a night cream too.

Paddingtonthebear · 27/02/2015 10:06

Is the alpha h gold stuff really that good? Mixed reviews on qvc and makeup alley

Wow that's a lot of products. Does she really recommend all of that? I'm not sure my skin would take all of that, it sounds quite hardcore Confused
