help needed- make up/hair care for very humid conditions

am off to rainforest on holiday with very small baggage allowance and very humid conditions. No hairdryer, no straighteners. I am looking for any advice or tips on makeup, skin, hair care etc. Any wonder products? will not be wearing much makeup but would like some basics (mascara, eyeliner, maybe tinted foundation?). will get eyelashes tinted before I go (although that usually does nothing). Any waterproof eyeliner that really works? any other suggestions? Many thanks

bumping! no suggestions for waterproof makeup? what would you bring if you were limited to 10 lbs of luggage?

Can't help with make up as I don't wear it very often. But get a keratin treatment and it will do wonders for keeping your hair frizz free. I know this to be so, living in the very humid (in the summer) Middle East.
The trip sounds amazing.

oh- that is a good idea!! do I need a salon for that or are there any DIY versions?

I personally have been really happy with the Estee Lauder DayWear BB cream (I lived in Switzerland and this looked great all day even on those very hot 42 degree summer days) - it's very sheer and just makes the skin look really nice and even.
Despite the fairly high SPF, I still recommend that you use a separate SPF if in the sun a lot (and re-apply the SPF during the day).

I'd go for eye makeup that isn't supposed to look crisp and perfect (like cat eye flicks), but instead go for something a tad more smudgy - just in case.
I'd get a Laura Mercier Caviar Stick eye shadow or two - it's cream eyeshadow that sets so it lasts really well. The Caviar Sticks are like similar in shape to a Touche Eclat or mascara so they do not take up much space.

You could get a darker colour (like Cocoa or Smoke) and apply it with an angled brush as a liner and a lighter colour for all over the lid (I like Copper, Rosegold and Moonlight) - there are loads of colours, and other companies also have similar, such as Bobbi Brown.
Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeshadow sticks are also pretty good.
I'd usually recommend something like Mac Paint Pots and Chanel Illusion d'Ombre, but they are fairly heavy glass pots which might not be practical for you.

For mascara, I'd suggest something like Estee Lauder Double Wear Zero Smudge Lengthening Mascara.
It's a tubing mascara but I find it more difficult to get off than other tubing mascaras I've tried. They usually come off with hot water, but if you're in a hot humid environment, you might need something that'll stay on despite that and I think that this one might stay on unless you rub it and use oily removers.
Alternatively, a really good waterproof mascara - I have no recommendations as they smudge on me.

With regards to hair, I wouldn't recommend the keratin treatments if those are the ones also known as Brazilian blowouts as they tend to be quite unhealthy - a lot of them contain formaldehyde, even if they say they don't.
I'd do plaits/braids, ponytail, bun and/or whatever suits your hairstyle - there are loads of nice tutorials on youtube.

Thanks so much for the advice Carpaccio- looking into them now- am in 2 minds about the Keratin- surely one can't hurt that much?

Hmm, not sure about brazilian blowouts myself. I make use of the humidity and scrunch my hair dry into waves/curls.

Revlon colorstay (stippled rather than troweled on) if you need foundation.

Dior overcurl mascara.

EL double wear eyeliner.

Clinique powder blush.

my hair will just pouffe up into a giant puff ball- is chin length and coarse- and very thick- my hairdresser just laughed when I said no straighteners or hairdryer! I was thinking of just popping a bandana around it- only hope really!

For humidity the less the better when my hair was shorter I would twirl and put up with bobby pins it looked fine. Make up will just sweat away, I just wore lip gloss and a bit of mascara. A bandana is a good idea as well as a decent hat.

I spent some time in Northern Thailand trekking a few years back, I have very curly, pouffy hair and oily skin to begin with. I thought id look a hot (and sweaty) mess! I used super strong mousse on my hair, popped some on while it was wet/damp and a 2nd lot as my curls started forming which helped tame my mane.
Make-up wise I took benetint for my lips and cheeks, pressed powder which i swirled on with a fat brush and clear mascara.
