GHD's dying :( Any suggestions for CHEAP replacement?

(Sorry if this has been done loads before....my phone won't allow me to do a search this morning!)
Soooo......my beloved GHD's are crackling and bleeping, and cooling down while using and I reckon they're probably on their way out. (Had them for many years)
Unfortunately, I'm not in a financial position to replace them like for like! Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent but cheap-as-poss replacement please?
TIA Smile

Hair art do a good standby pair at a fraction of the price.

TwoNoisyBoys · 25/02/2015 08:36

Thanks! Are they an online company? I haven't heard of them.....

Send the back to ghd, doesn't matter how old they are they will repair them if possible or you get a discount on your next pair, I think the company that deal with it are called jamella.

Yes search hairart ceramic straighteners....I had some in a sale for about 40 pounds they were great.

wigfieldrocks · 25/02/2015 11:26

Definitely babyliss pro. They are just as good as GHD.

TwoNoisyBoys · 25/02/2015 14:38

Thanks everyone! I never knew GHD did repairs? The only thing is of course I'll have to buy some anyway to use in the interim while they're being repaired Grin Thanks for the suggestions.

Babyliss Boutique. They are better than GHDs in my opinion and half the price.

pinkrocker · 25/02/2015 18:29

Corioliss ones. Amazing. My hairdresser bought some for me at her supplier, worth asking? They were £48 and they curl and straighten and are better than my ghd straigheners were!

Secretsout · 25/02/2015 22:06

Remington's, had two sets, far better than my DD's GHD's

Flambola · 25/02/2015 22:49

Another one for Remington's. They're brill - I have thick, curly, wiry hair and it takes me no time to straighten with them.

HaveYouSeenHerLately · 25/02/2015 23:04

Remington's Grin

I was told I could send my GHDs back for repair but GHD refused (to be fair there were pretty old - they'd been well-cared for though).

I was about to purchase a new pair when I friend lent me her Remington's. They were just as good if not better than GHDs.

I know own the cheapest Remington's and they're really good! Heat dial and auto shut off too. The Colour Protect ones are supposed to be equally good and

The Sleek and Smooth Remingtons are on sale in Aldi on Sunday for £19.99 with a 3yr warranty (£25 on Amazon) Smile

usualsuspect333 · 25/02/2015 23:19

I've never found any straighteners that are better than GHDs.

TwoNoisyBoys · 26/02/2015 16:14

Ooh, thanks for that! I'll look out for them then! Handy to have a back up pair, if I do manage to get mine repaired....but mine are really pretty old, too.....
I know Usual, that's what I'm worried about!

Seconding corioliss. Got them for Christmas and they are great, think they've actually improved my poor frazzled hair. Not sure how much as they were a present but I know they're cheaper then ghds.

HaveYouSeenHerLately · 26/02/2015 18:13

I was honestly quite surprised by the Remington's, I thought nothing could come close to GHDs Shock

My hair doesn't straighten very easily but I find I don't need to use the max temperature on the Remingtons which is reassuring!

If you want to stick with GHDs you can get refurbished ones on ebay for £40 with a 3 month guarantee.
