Puma suede trainers

I usually just wear converse for a casual type of shoe but I saw someone today wearing Puma suede trainers and they looked really nice. The suede makes them look smarter than normal trainers.

Has anyone got them? How does the sizing come up? I've got narrow feet.

I had a pair in 1993 - turquoise. They were quite narrow I recall! Sorry not helpful, just nostalgic.

DandyHighwayman · 24/02/2015 17:12

Yes v narrow grrrr.

AlwaysOneMissing · 24/02/2015 17:15

Can you link Dancer? I want some casual footwear but not too taken with Converse for some reason!

Cocolepew · 24/02/2015 17:27

There are some cheap on Branch309, I got them for DD.

I have the black ones, bought them recently and the nike pegasus 83, still deciding between the two. I don't find either too narrow, my converse on the other hand are a nightmare to wear because they are so narrow!

HappyGirlNow · 24/02/2015 20:33

Ooh I have those yazzy they're really nice.

I also have these - they're lovely.....

Dancergirl · 24/02/2015 20:56

Yes they're exactly the ones I'm thinking about yazzy

Dancergirl I find the sizing is similar to the converse but slightly less narrow at the toes compared to the converse. Nice thick padded sole which is comfortable, not as lightweight as the typical trainer styles though like the retro new balance.

Dancergirl · 25/02/2015 09:52

Thanks yazzy I don't normally wear trainers (except converse, not sure if they count as a trainer!) but these suede ones look so nice!

I think I may well try them.... Smile

I saved up for a pair of these in 1994. They were my absolute pride and joy.

Bavmorda · 25/02/2015 18:31

Also considering a pair. How do they compare to the Adidas Gazelles?

lovelychops · 25/02/2015 21:25

I had green ones in early 90's too. Adored them!

MrsMarigold · 25/02/2015 22:48

I have some bought direct from Puma - they often have great deals - I think if you sign up for the newsletter you get a tenner off. They are super comfy but a bit cold for the weather at the moment. My feet are long and narrow with very high arches.

flipchart · 25/02/2015 23:03

I've got a few pairs of suede Pumas. I just buy my normal size.

I've been slowly given up on my Converse after 35 years!!

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 25/02/2015 23:06

I cried for a month breaking in my last pair of converse. Never again. Pumas all the way. They are a little narrow, but about a million percent more supportive than a converse. I'll never go back.

VeryStressedMum · 25/02/2015 23:08

I got the blue and orange ones for dds, I thought they were lovely and they were only £20...dds don't like the colour, the colours they like cost way more than £20...

treaclesoda · 25/02/2015 23:17

My Pumas are very very comfortable (burgundy suede), 100 times more comfortable than Converse. Like a previous poster, I had a pair in about 1994 and I was so proud of them.

For my 18th birthday though (also around that time) I got a pair of suede Converse. Can't remember what they were called though, but not Dr Js. I searched high and low to find them, took months to track them down. So cool were they that strangers actually stopped me a few times to ask where I had got them. Like any 18 year old wannabe hipster, I nearly spontaneously combusted with pride. Grin

Dancergirl · 25/02/2015 23:26

Right I'm convinced! Now.....what colour to go for? I really like the black but maybe the burgundy...?

Bought the black with a taupe -ish stripe, they are fab Smile

Can I ask a really stupid question - socks or no socks? Trainer socks? Are normal socks a big no-no with trainers?

OP posts:
Bavmorda · 26/02/2015 12:44

Next sell a pack of three Converse socks - have just purchased some to go with a range of trainer type shoes. In my experience going sockless means cold feet (or stinky shoes in summer) but normal socks ruin the look.

What's the stripe like in the flesh OP? It put me off buying the black ones as I wanted a less obvious stripe.

Dancergirl · 26/02/2015 12:47

It is quite obvious against the black. If you want a less obvious stripe go for another colour so the stripe blends in a bit more.

Ah, takes me back to the school in the early 90s. I am an Adiddas Gazelle fan personally. All the money from my Saturday job went on trainers back then. I was just wondering how old is too old to still wear trainers? I have killer heels for work but Adidas for to and from work.

treaclesoda · 26/02/2015 12:52

Bavmorda I've seen ones with the stripe in the same colour as the rest of the trainers, so you can only see it up close. They're very nice.

For socks I wear those invisible type foot sock things, not quite as big as a trainer sock. But as a result I mostly wear the trainers in summer, as I hate having cold feet.
