No style, feel awful. Please intervene!

My 'style' was usually fairly Classic. Jeans and a t shirt or jumper.

Since having IBS I go from being bloated from not quite so bloated, I've cut out the triggers but still at times most of the time feel huge.

I find jeans uncomfortable around my stomach and too tight around the top of my thighs, the bit where the gap should be! I'm a size 14 fairly broad shouldered, belly and no waist.

For the past 3 years I have worn Sweaty Betty unwind pants (now discontinued) and a pure collection boyfriend cashmere jumper.

I need to find a style that's comfortable and smart casual. I don't want to emphasise anything I'd prefer to be invisible.

Please can someone help? Thank you

What are your boobs/hips/thighs like in relation to the rest of you. How do define your basic shape? Apple/pear etc

This is a good guide www.joyofclothes.com/style-advice/shape-guides/body-shapes-overview.php

I'm no style guru ..... So feel free to ignore!

Are you fussed about sizing? If not, and you fancy jeans otherwise, is it too obvious to see if a bigger size works? Maybe not if the style itself still feels uncomfortable.

Emphasising my non-style-guru-ness, I'm of a similar shape from what you describe .... I'm getting into skater style dresses, and longer tunics, with thick tights or leggings. Slightly softer going on the tights bits!

How about a loose-fitting dress over leggings? Or a tunic top or smock dress with jeggings/treggings instead of jeans?
You could also try soft stretchy jeans with a lower rise. Or flat-fronted trousers that fall straight from the hip.

My favourite style at the moment is a wrap-dress worn over a long-line cami, either with tights or thermal leggings if it's cold. Goes well with long boots, ankle boots or shoes, and can layer a cardigan on top.
I've always disliked the feeling of normal jeans, they feel too stiff and restrictive. When I do wear them I always go for the lowest rise, with a high Lycra content.

Id say I'm an apple shape, I'm 5'7, slim hips (I think) not a big bum and boobs a FF-G. I have 6 pairs of jeans that I'm now too fat to fit in Blush

I'm working on losing the lbs but have nothing in my wardrobe that makes me feel good. I feel like a fat round blimp.

I'll look at skater dresses, also don't care about sizing as long as they fit and I look good!

How about boyfriend jeans or chino type trousers, but not chinos?!

With wide legged trousers/flares being in, this could be your season. If the unwind leggings work (I've got a pair I wear for slobs, they are lush, aren't they?), how about looking for some more tailored trousers in a similar shape (Me & Em are doing some this season, which I've got my eye on).

I'd also suggest dresses may be your friend, as they can float over your tummy, and won't be restrictive on your waist.

Shape-wise, I'm the opposite to you: very boyish, so not sure I'm best placed to advise, but I did used to suffer from IBS, so I understand your pain x Eventually I found eating right, exercising regularly and cutting out stressful areas of my life helped pretty much eradicate it, but it's always there in the background, ready to rear its head if I take my eye off the ball.
