My 14 year old has not wanted to wear bras, and has just been wearing crop tops. I've just measured her and she is a size 30DD. She is wanting to have soft cup bras only. Is this ok? At her size will they provide enough support?
Any recommendations for supportive soft cups or extra comfy underwire bras would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Could she wear sports bras? Many of them are soft but very supportive. I was looking at some in M&S this week and they had some nice ones in. Sizing is sometimes a bit different in sports bras though, I've always needed to size up.

On a 30 band a DD is fairly small, so it's totally fine for her to not wear wires if she doesn't want to yet. John Lewis do some non wired, and there is also a non wired version of the Freya Deco which is very plain and lightly moulded (which a lot of teens seem to prefer due to nipple sensitivity/embarrassment)

In terms of extra comfy wired bras, it's more a case of finding the ones where the wire shape matches her breasts well. Some people will say "oh I find Freya really comfy" whereas for others it will be Panache or Cleo or.....As a very general rule Panache bras do have slightly firmer wires than Freya or Fantasie, but the shape and how they match the breast is the most important thing IME.

It's not as critical with non wired as the fit issues aren't as bad but for wired I'd recommend taking her to Bravissimo. The fitters are lovely and very good and have access to a huge range of brands and styles.

Something else to note is that if she is very slender then she might need a band size up - most people don't but really slim people sometimes do if they have very little padding over their ribcage.

Thanks so much. We're in Australia and the choices here are dismal, but now I have a better idea what I'm looking for I will search through the Bravissimo and M&S sites.
