Easy makeup routine!

Is there such a thing?

I've only started wearing a touch of makeup

I'm not into all the fuss of foundation so I'm looking for something to put on top of a touch of concealer for the odd spot I may get!

I did use jml minerals but was wondering if there's something I could nip into boots and buy instead of online buying

How about a BB cream for a base. I like Garnier ones. Depends on your skin tone though. Cream blusher to have a healthy glow, Maybelline maybe? Mascara and a lipgloss, or slightly tinted lip balm. This would take under 5 mins easy.

trufflesnout · 20/02/2015 19:41

I'm not into make up and this is what I use. I have combination skin and everything I use is quite sheer.

  1. Primer (all over)
  2. Concealer (blemishes only)
  3. BB cream, stippled in
  4. Powder on oily areas
  5. Tiny amount of blush blended in well
  6. Small amt of mascara on upper outer lashes
  7. Eyeshadow (either 1 or 2 colours)
  8. Lip tint or tinted balm

Takes me under 5 mins and I often wear less, but that's the whole shebang for when I can be bothered.

trufflesnout · 20/02/2015 19:42

(I prime, conceal and then use BB cream because I get a lot of pinkness and my skin's a bit shite, but if you have better skin than me you could probably drop the primer)

WhatEverZen · 20/02/2015 19:55

Bb cream, a sweep of mascara on upper and lower lashes and a tinted lip balm. Possibly some cream blush if you fancy it. Bourjois do some great ones which you can have quite sheer or build up to more colour

How do you apply eyebrow pencil properly? My brows are naturally quite a good shape but they could use some filling, but I always feel I look wrong with them done so I just leave them

Sukie272 · 20/02/2015 20:50

My quickest make-up routine for everyday (after moisturising):

Bare minerals powder-foundation: brushed on, takes a few seconds to apply, gives the coverage of light foundation with a natural glow. Can be bought from large Boots stores.

Neutral eyeshadow, with a darker shadow on lash line, sometimes I use a damp brush for a stronger line.

Benefit eyebrow gel (to define and hold them in place!)

Benefit (non-sticky lipgloss, best in a neutral shade. It doesn't rub off, feel sticky or stick to hair.)

A dab of subtle shimmery bronzer on cheekbones.

That's it! Takes less than 5 mins in total.

Sukie272 · 20/02/2015 20:55

Trufflesnout, I've never been keen on brow-pencils, they look too harsh and unnatural.
I prefer eyebrow gel (Benefit has a good one in a tiny bottle like a mascara bottle with wand... you brush it on, it's very subtle but it fills in gaps and defines shape). You can also get palletes with a solid gel and a tinted powder... You apply the gel with a slanted brush and the powder on top to seal it.

The BB cream do I have to get a colour match like foundation? And do I apply it like a moisturiser or a foundation with a sponge?

I use Dr Jart BB cream from boots which is quite thick and I rub it in with my fingers. It comes in just the one colour but it's quite pale, as am I.

Lookingforadvice123 · 21/02/2015 13:27

I find if I wear bb cream, I look very pale and washed out if I don't wear anything else ie blusher/bronzer over it. I use the No7 'fair' one though as my face is quite pale!

On a normal work day I use (after moisturiser):

Mascara on upper and lower lashes, you can put as much on as you like (I like to wear a lot!)
Bb cream - definitely quicker than foundation as it goes on and blends much easier
Tiny dabbing of powder (no7 again) on my oily nose
Small amount of pink blusher (MAC)
Bronzer over the top (Bobbi brown shimmer brick)

The blusher Ive got is very pink and obvious so the bronzer actually tones it down. If you have a more subtle blusher you could probably wear one or the other but I'm too tight to buy a new blusher until the MAC one runs out.

I have my eyebrows tinted and shaped once a month as mine seem to look way too 'Scouse brow' if I've pencilled them in, unless I'm wearing a full face including eyeliner foundation etc!

BallroomWithNoBalls · 21/02/2015 20:26

Mine is v quick and minimal. I prioritise skin rather than eyes or lips.

  1. Primer - I use Bourjois Happy Light
  2. A light foundation - I use Bourjois Healthy Mix serum
  3. Cream blush - I use a Clinique stick blusher
  4. A taupe eyeshadow - I use a Benefit cream one
  5. Eyebrows - I use a variety of stuff for this, haven't found my hg product or perfected my technique but I do always fill them in somehow
  6. A dusting of 'Glow All Out' powder - Soap and Glory

Under 5 mins. I swap my primer for a sunblock for an outsidey day or in summer time. I use my fingers to apply everything apart from the final powder dusting.

trufflesnout · 23/02/2015 00:08

Ty Sukie sounds good. Never thought things like dipbrow would suit me so I will check out the Benefit eyebrow gel - thank you!

louwn · 23/02/2015 07:06

If I only had to pick a few things and your skin is good:
Eyebrow pencil/shadow
Blusher
Mascara
Concealer

Good eyebrows and cheekbones can transform you!

Skivvywoman · 23/02/2015 08:09

I've ordered Elizabeth Arden Bb cream

So fingers crossed I like it as I'm not a lover of foundation I hate the heavy feeling of a mask on my face!

I like benefits you rebel light and benefit boing concealor looks just like foundation on days when I can't be bothered with proper foundation!
