Skin Care On a Budget

So I'm on maternity leave - money is dwindling and so is my Clarins Double serum.

At the moment I am a bit haphazard I'm using Soap and Glory cream cleanser (as it was a gift) and the Nivea Soft cream. I quite fancy an acid toner and I must admit to liking to use all the same brand really.

Any ideas? I was in Superdrug looking at their Vit E stuff the other day but DS had had enough so I had to walk out.

I'm 34 and still getting asked for ID so I can't look that bad but I'm starting to notice lines creep around my eyes now.

Thanks.

I would go for an oil based skin care, this works best for me and is very economical. So you just do the oil cleansing every night and then moisturize with rosehip at night and camellia in the morning. You can find the ins and outs of the oil cleansing here www.fushi.co.uk/healthy-lifestyle-news/oil-cleansing-method-for-glowing-skin/

Thanks that's interesting will look further - Forgot to say though I am allergic to rose!

I'm a similar age to you and also looking at budget ways to invigorate my skin.

Have recently tried Superdrug Vitamin E Radiance range , it was on 'Better than half price ' offer so got three products for under £10!

Very impressed and have noticed a difference already.

Also been using Boots No7 Melting Oil Cleanser, bought with a £5 off No 7 voucher.
It has been lovely on my dry skin, turns from gel/ cream to oil on skin, rub in then rinse off , I'm definetely going to purchase again.

Looking forward to hearing about other budget skin boosting suggestions.

I've used the super drug vitamin e range and liked it. Also now use coconut oil, some on at night and I wake up all smooth! I only put it on on the morning if I have lots of time Bc it takes a while to soak in.

Look on Caroline Hiron's youtube channel. She has a video on budget skin care and I think she included an acid toner which had the same ingredients as expensive ones

Have you used coconut oil at all? It's very high in Vit E, cheap, and versatile. You can put it on cotton wool and use it with water to wash makeup off, then put it on your skin as an overnight moisturiser. It has been proven to tighten and reduce fine lines.
I also use it as a mask on my hair too.
A quick google of coconut oil beauty benefits will tell you more. I swear by it.

Coconut oil wrecked my skin so I'm not a fan of that.

I love the Body Shop's Camomile Cleansing Oil though and it's often on special offer.

HubertCumberdale · 20/02/2015 12:47

squoosh That's interesting, I wonder what skin type you are?
I have pretty durable combination skin prone to the odd spot.
I'm also a fan of 100% Aloe Vera gel, but would not recommend that for people with sensitive skin at all.

I think REN is pretty good value (given up work to be a student so having to adapt to new skincare!)

It's normally between £8-15 and Beauty Expert often has 20% off.

Thank-you all. I'm going to have a child free shopping day and have a look. I'm liking the coconut oil idea.
