Is ombré hair over?

I'm soooo bored with my hair and there's s great photo of ombré hair on a local hairdressers page.

My hair is really dark so don't want blonde so like this because it's not so dramatic a difference.
My hair is quite a bit shorter as well. Naturally curly if left dry naturally (which only happened after I had my baby!)

It's over here (Birmingham). Could you have some highlights or similar put in?

My hair dresser said there's something new in this year that's similar to ombre but less defined and more subtle. It sounds pretty similar to your picture so I'd say that look is bang up to date.

I think balayage is a more refined version of ombre.

YY to balayage. My hairdresser talked me into it at my colour before last; it's really just a much more subtle ombre. Check out pinterest for ideas. It's supposed to be freehand and give less symmetrical highlights etc. for a more beachy look.

I think balayage is the method of applying it by hand but there are a number of looks you can achieve through balayage. Ombre is one of them.

burnishedsilver I think you are referring to sombre. Sounds like a p*ss take I know but isn't, honest! It means soft ombré. It is a really nice natural look with not much difference between the tones used
