Best moisturiser for dehydrated 40plus skin. Love Charlotte tilbury cream but too pricey

Hello
I am down to my last two scoops of my Charlotte tilbury magic cream which I love but can not justify buying because of price. I bought it originally as had a windfall and thought it would last longer than it has (about 2 months).
My skin is dehydrated and tight but not flaky. Wrinkles not too much to an issue (yet). Any suggestions of what I can try?

Forgive the terrible grammar. Typing on train in rush!

Have you ever used Nivea Soft? It's very good.

I really like la roche posay. They have many different moisturisers. I use the effaclar h for oily dehydrated skin and its very good.

Not sure about the 40+ bit, but the Superdrug Vitamin E cream and serum are fantastic (and on offer at the moment).

I got fed up of having to trek to department stores to buy luxury moisturisers that never seemed good enough/didn't last, so promised myself to try own brand ranges from the beauty shops around me. I have really tight skin and it's been transformed. I layer them at night, and in the morning just use the serum to save time.

You are the second person to mention Nivea soft. I'm off to boots!

I use the Vichy hydrating serum in the blue glass bottle and Origins Drink Up overnight mask (just a nice, thick night cream really) overnight.

During the day I use the Vichy and the Olay 7in1 serum and moisturiser with SPF20. I'm not overjoyed with the Olay, tbh, it's a step I'll keep playing with I think to find something better, but the vichy hydrating serum is ace.

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 17/02/2015 12:36

The Vichy serum is the "Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Serum", £17 from Boots.

I don't know the Tilbury one, but my mum and I both really like Embryolisse. It is apparently a makeup artist favourite and it really is a very nice moisturiser. My mum has dry skin and it works very well for her, and I have oily, dehydrated skin and it works just as well for me.

This is the one I'm using: embryolisse.co.uk/vmchk/moisturising/lait-creme-concentre-75ml
It comes in 30 ml too.

Can I suggest Body Shop vitamin e range - have been using for about 6 weeks and my skin feels great, actually plump and really hydrated - I've suffered with v dry skin and eczema in the past, and spent loads on all of the big brands, but this seems to really do what it says on the tin for me. Am using the oil in serum + night cream at night.

Nivea gives me spots, but works well for hands and dry skin on legs and feet

I love the Moringa oil by Fushi, has done wonders to rehydrate my skin. Also cleansing with the oil cleansing method is fabulous.

Astral slapped on at night, with a facial oil. Neal's Yard Frankincense Intense as day cream.

MilkThistle187 · 17/02/2015 17:18

I have a jar of Magic Cream, I like it, but what I really love and would highly recommend is the L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil, I actually think I prefer it to the MC. Smells gorgeous and has made a huge difference to my skin. I've been using it for about 6 months and it's the first product I've used in a long time that I've repurchased.

CadiM · 17/02/2015 18:17

I've been using Boots Botanics organic facial oil for a couple of weeks and can see and feel a difference (less dry and tight, skin looks a bit plumper). I use it at night under a night cream (or on its own) and under my usual CC cream during the day.

Itscurtainsforyou · 17/02/2015 18:22

My skin has been horribly dehydrated and the only thing that's really worked is the clarins hydro quench range (light blue pot). I used the serum and moisturiser in a pot and it's made a huge difference.

queenbrunhilda · 17/02/2015 19:23

Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. Buy when on offer at QVC. Worth it.

valsamicbinegar · 17/02/2015 19:31

Liz Earle moisturiser for dry skin....I don't massively like the smell but I've tried to switch to others and nothing is as good!

FringeDivision · 19/02/2015 21:35

Lancome absolue precious cells. Got some for Christmas and my skin looks all glowy. Don't even need foundation. Lovely stuff.

WagonWheel · 19/02/2015 23:07

Second the Liz Earle skin repair, or you could move up to the superskin version if you're really noticing the dehydration (criss cross lines across the cheek are a tell-tale sign). Not massively keen on the smell of the superskin but every time I stray I come back to it. My sister has the new neroli version which is slightly nicer scent wise.

I've also had great results from Decleor Iris which was gifted to me: both the oil and the balm which I layer under my moisturiser when my skin's especially parched.
