I used to leave my bikini area alone to grow bushy and wild Blush but after experimenting recently, have discovered that I would like to keep my fanjo totally hairless. I'm not interested in a debate about this- I prefer the way it looks and feels and that's that. So my question is, how do you keep it smooth? I tend to use hair removal cream, but it seems to become stubbly after only a couple of days. Would you recommend waxing? Shaving? Any other method?

Epilate

Secretlifeofme · 15/02/2015 09:07

Epilate? Hmm. I have never tried that. Is it very painful?

Waxing. Always waxing. I prefer it. It's probably a bit more painful. But lasts longer.

OneDayWhenIGrowUp · 15/02/2015 09:29

Recently discovered 'hot waxing' I think it's called- special hi tech sort of wax that they put on, it hardens slightly and then they pull it off- no strips of material involved- and it's given me the smoothest, and least painful wax of my life. I used to have to go every 3 weeks, by which time it really needed doing again- 2.5 weeks post now and there's just a little bit of soft regrowth, still very presentable Grin it'll probably be 5-6 weeks till it needs doing again, I'll be keeping this up for a good few sessions before giving full review but gets thumbs up from me so far

Shaving- quick re growth, ingrown hairs
Cream- same
Epilate- just can't bring myself to do it to myself! Can use it on lower legs- anything else, ouchie
Waxing all the way!

Whatever method you use, a salicylic acid product like Tendskin is worthwhile, to minimise/manage ingrowns. And a good moisturiser.

OneDay-could I ask how long the re-growth has to be before it can waxed? Have been using cream and sick of super-quick re-growth,so was thinking waxing..
Thankyou :)

santamarianovella · 15/02/2015 09:51

I got most of it laserd, like a Brazilian but not all they way, then I wax or shave what's left, I much prefer it smooth and hair free down there, and for me laser was the best option.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 15/02/2015 10:04

I'd recommend hot wax too.

Secretlifeofme · 15/02/2015 10:25

Thank you- I had never heard of hot wax before. Off to google Smile

Hot wax and honestly it's not painful if you get a good waxer

WaxOnWaxOff · 15/02/2015 13:24

Waxing - you want someone that uses hot wax, either Perron Rigot or Lycon, and preferably you want a waxer who is Kim Lawless trained. You'll be in, fuzz free, and out of your appointment within 30 minutes.

WaxOnWaxOff · 15/02/2015 13:29

penny regrowth needs to be at least the length of a grain of rice - I usually tell clients they need to leave it 3 weeks since their last shave or 4 weeks since their last wax before their appointment with me.

Ememem84 · 15/02/2015 13:45

I've never hot waxed (without te wax strips - my beautician uses hot wax then removes with strips), but if it's less painful than with strips I might see if they do that.

I've found you really need to go for a wax at the right time of the month. For me if I go the week before period it hurts more than any other week. I also recommend aloe Vera gel to help with any redness.

It also hurts less the more you go. Or you just get used to it.

If you've never been before just be prepared. The hot wax will hurt (I think because you won't be used to it iyswim) the removal will hurt. But it's quick. And the results are worth it.

WaxOnWaxOff · 15/02/2015 13:51

hot wax is different to strip wax Em, it's actually a cooler temperature than strip wax and it shrink wraps the hair but doesn't stick to the skin, so when it's peeled off it only pulls hair, not skin.

If you've only ever been strip waxed, find someone who does hot waxing and try it, I promise you'll notice a big difference.Smile

I keep mine the same......and er, it's not for everyone, but my other half takes care of it with a razor and a great deal of care!!!!!

wax have just emailed my beautician (need an appointment next week anyway..), and have asked if she does hot wax as opposed to strip wax, it may be she does and I've just never asked the question!

thanks for the tips.

mowglik · 15/02/2015 15:03

Agree with hot wax, pain killers half an hour before appt and tendskin to take care of ingrowns

penny39 · 15/02/2015 20:28

Wax-thankyou ??

50ShadesOfSummer · 16/02/2015 06:12

I shave. Usually every couple of days in the shower. Doesn't take long and only got ingrown hairs and a rash when I started doing it about 4 years ago. I guess my fanjo has toughened up since then! Grin

highlighta · 16/02/2015 08:40

Definitely hot wax. Don't use Veet or similar for a full Hollywood.... there are always those stragglers you wont be able to get unless you want a flaming fanjo Wink

So yes hot wax is the way to go, but just a heads up, if the hair is a bit long, it hurts more.... I left mine for 8 weeks and went last week. OK i will admit it was quite painful, usually its 4 weeks (maximum 6) and it really isn't that bad at all.. In and out in 25 mins usually. And this is all the way round, so yep, includes bum....

So if its a bit long, give it a bit of a trim first...
